CruiserBruce Posted April 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) There is one free lot very close to the ship, another a short distance away. This assumes you are coming ashore at Kahalui. Lahaina is an entirely different story. Edited April 8, 2014 by CruiserBruce

Also. any recommendations for which car rental to use?? Hawaii in 26 days! Yeah!:) If your port is Kahului, there is a small lot (50 spaces) inside the secure area next to the ship. You'll show a ship's key card to enter. The lot fills up fast. Once it's full, the closest parking is at the Maui Mall, which is a bit of a walk from the dock. Do not park along the sides of the roads leading to the dock, your car may well get towed. All the major car rental companies are at the airport, about 5 to 10 minutes from the pier. They all send buses around to the pier.

CruiserBruce Posted April 9, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 9, 2014 :(sorry to forget to mention the port in maui we are tendering at Lahaina That makes a significant difference. Overnight parking at Lahaina is far more complex. You might be able to park in front of the school a block or two south of the tender location, but get your car moved before 8am. You might be able to park at the public parking across the street from the school. Check out the signage there. Otherwise you need to go a block or two east of the main street and look for legal spaces.

PCWalton1 Posted April 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted April 19, 2014 There are some places to park but you will probably have to pay. The link below is to a Google map someone put together that shows where most of the parking lots are. A few are free public lots but will have a max 3 hours parking. The pay lots are good for overnight. https://maps.google.com/maps/ms?hl=e...5&source=embed

We also had two days on Maui; on the first day we drove around the entire west side of the island, stopping at Lahaina and other places as we went, and ending up back in Kahului. On the second day, we drove part of the RTH, as far as the Keanae peninsula before turning back to be sure we were back in plenty of time for the ship's departure.
