phones you can get on the ships ???

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this were...did you feel they were helpful?? could have done with out them?

I am cruising with my hubby and 2 kids, 16 and 13...next week on the Allure....going to let them have some freedom.

I think kids that age are responsible enough to show up at scheduled times and places. Otherwise, as long as they are well-behaved, let them enjoy their own activities.

Our kids were 10 and 12 on our last cruise on the Liberty. We let them have their freedom with rules and pre arranged meeting times. That being said we will definitely be getting them for our upcoming cruise on the Allure and Oasis.

We used on Allure 2 weeks ago, worked great! You also have option to track location in addition to texting & calling. Allowed for more flexibility, especially when I would change my plans. Believe it's $30 per phone. Get when you first board, they do run out. Will be posted in Compass where to go rent them. Have fun!

I've not heard of the Royal Connect phones on Freedom.

We like the idea but were disappointed with the coverage on Allure.

 

On the 2-3 occasions the kids really wanted to call us to talk to us we were in "Dead-zones" and the phones neither rang nor recorded a missed-call.

 

When we turned them in they said they were going to be doing a complete system overhaul shortly but until then it was a known issue.
