Enough to do on the Breeze with four sea days?

 Share

Recommended Posts

DH and I really want to go on the Breeze for our next cruise. DH has also really wanted to go to Aruba. The two options with Aruba for the Breeze next year are so expensive, but at this point I feel like we just need to go for broke! I think Aruba has high port fees, plus the Breeze is the newest ship, which is probably why it is so expensive.

Anyway, my question is, is there enough to do on the Breeze with four sea days? The first Aruba itinerary only goes to Aruba, Curacao and Grand Turk and has four sea days.

The second itinerary also includes the Dominican Republic, but it over a grand a piece for an inside category. I just can't see spending that much! When all is said and done, though, that cruise is only about $200 more than the other one, but is the DR worth the extra $200? $200 could get us a hotel the night before the cruise.

As you can see, I'm overanalyzing! Anyone have any advice? :)

Nap? LOL. In my normal life I never get a chance to nap. I love snoozing to the gentle rocking of the ship. There are lots of things to do on sea days. DH hits the casino. I like to read on my balcony. The ship has lots of organized activities you can join in. Trivia, scavenger hunts, talent shows, etc. You will find something to do every day.

We are doing this cruise in 3 weeks (including DR). We were hoping the price would drop - but decided just to go for it.

I was on the Breeze for a 6 day (without DH) in October and I think that there is a lot to do on the Breeze - Including relax.

We have a Spa room this time - so looking forward to utilizing that and really relaxing. Really looking forward to the sea days. We are so much looking forward to relaxing this time around that we are not taking any formal wear (we will not go to the dining room on those nights).

It's funny that you say that. DH's two favorite cruise activities are to nap and eat. Lol! I don't nap as much as he does. We have never been on an 8 day cruise, nor one with four sea days, so it will be a bit different is all. We really like going to lots of different ports, but perhaps this cruise will be a bit more relaxing.

Let me know what you think of the DR! Still up in the air about whether DR would be worth the extra money.

I guess it depends on what you consider boring. I just got off the Breeze two weeks ago and it included DR. If you are a beach person and enjoy putting your toes in the sand then the wonderful blue waters of the Caribbean, then DR is a must visit. The waters there were wonderful, warm, and great for snorkeling and some 5star hotels have day passes you can enjoy their private beaches that are all inclusive (booze too).

If you're not a beach person, then I would say stay on the ship. I scuba dived in DR and it was some of the most clear and beautiful water around.

As far as going inland on DR, I would say skip it.

BTW, there is plenty to do on the Breeze FOR SURE!

We are doing the 8 night with the DR, in July.

We did the 8 night Eastern last year.

I believe we had 3 sea days as well.

There is MORE than enough stuff to keep busy with.......

I don't see how you could be bored on this ship.

You have Waterworks, Thrill Theater, Ropes Course, tons of trivia, bingo, scavenger hunts, etc.

This is our new favorite ship.

Yes, it is expensive, but IMO, worth every penny.:D:D

We are booked for the Sunshine with the same itinerary.

First sea day, we normally hang around the pool bar for line dancing and watching the pool games, drinking, laughing and meeting people.

One of my sea days I plan on treating myself to a massage and relax in the spa til dinner. Then after dinner, maybe a show or catch a movie on the big screen.

After the 2 port days, a quiet spot in the Serenity area is where I'll be, reading a book or listening to my ipod til dinner.

Last sea day, i'll spend another morning relaxing in the serenity. Leaving in the afternoon because I like to have everything mostly packed before dinner.

After dinner, enjoy the farewell show and go hang at a bar with hubby and enjoy some music.

Personally on sea days, I find being outside, taking in the ocean is the way to go. After dinner is when I like different activities; shows, trivia, bands, clubs, casino, movies, etc.

We did the one with Dominican but honestly, we had as much fun on the ship as we did in any of the ports. Breeze is a fantastic ship and we enjoyed every sea day. We switched pools, hit the sernity deck, munched at the BBQ place (which was right under our balcony and the smell was always making me hungry), did a hot tub crawl thing, hit the Red frog one afternoon. IMO there is PLENTY to do!

I could not agree more about the DR beaches! We did a boat trip out to a beach on Saona Island. The beach was spectacular and I don't know what that yellow stuff was that guy kept pouring in my cup, but the boat ride back was blurry!

Have you been to the DR? If not then why skip it? It will be worth the extra money to get in another port plus I am sure the price is going to drop.

Been to DR twice. La Romana, not a lot to see. Could do an excursion to an AI for the day, but it's a fair drive. Save your excursion money for Aruba, Curacao or GT.

That sounds like a perfect little sea day itinerary! :)

We have 4 sea days on the Splendor. I too was worried about finding things to do (outside of drinking, gambling and bingo, etc). I decided that I would book a Spa cabin, that way I can go to the spa on sea days.

If you just want to go to Aruba, why not book a regular vacation there and fly? Seriously, I was looking at the Aruba / Curacao itinerary and it doesn't give enough time in the day to enjoy the islands.

Honestly, I was looking into that at one point, but A) We love cruising and B) I think that a land Aruba vacation would cost even more. Cruising is such a great value when you think about it. You get accommodations, entertainment and food all rolled into one price. And actually, the itinerary we are looking at with the four sea days puts us in Aruba from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. which is 11 hours in port! That is a long time!

Wife and I went to the DR a few years ago on a Celebrity cruise and it was one of my favorite ports we have been to. We don't do beaches too much as we are from Miami. However, in La Romana we went on an excursion to a huge cave. It was awesome and beautiful. We liked it so much we were considering doing the Freedom this May to go back to the cave. I should explain that I was working on my BA in Geology when we went to DR. So I may be a little biased.
