Smoking on Radiance

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm new to this board and planning the Radiance Pacific Coastal next May. Can anyone help clarify the reality of the RCI smoking policy on board? The web site just says something like smoking is prohibited on board but allowed in designated areas of some lounges and on all outdoor decks. What exactly does that mean...no smoking in the staterooms?? Yes, there are still some people who smoke and I'm one of them. I was on Celebrity twice last year and found it quite smoke-friendly (essentially one half of the ship is smoking and one half is non-smoking, except the dining room and show lounge are completely non-smoking). My partner and I are planning a group of 20-30 for this trip and many of us smoke, so I just want to get more details before we commit. Thanks in advance!!

You can smoke in your staterooms. If there isn't an ashtray, ask your steward to bring one. Better yet, bring your own! ;) No smoking in the dining rooms or show lounges, but some of the smaller lounges allow smoking. Outside decks will be designated smoking on one side of the ship and non-smoking on the other. The best way to find out where you can and cannot smoke is to check your daily Cruise Compass which is left in your cabin by the steward. This should have a section on the first day that will answer the smoking/non-smoking locations question.

I was on the Radiance in February and yes, you can smoke in your stateroom - just ask your cabin attendant and they will bring you an ashtray. I'm a smoker as well, but limited my smoking to the balcony ( the attendant brought me an ashtray) You can smoke on one side of the pool area only - the pool attendants do enforce this rule - I believe it's port side.

You can smoke at the rear of the Schooner Lounge - there are ashtrays available there. You can also smoke outside of the Windjammer near the entrance to the pool deck. You can smoke inside the Casino as well.

There are plenty of areas to smoke - and there are plenty of non-smokers! I'm sure you and your group will be courteous :)

Have a great cruise!

Usually the smoking areas all over the ships are all on the port side. This may not be 100%, but it's a good rule of thumb. On the outside Promenade Deck (Deck 5), which we call "the porch", the entire port side is smoking. So, inside the lounges it's also the port side where they allow smoking.

I think it's a good compromise: we non-smokers can be away from it, and you smokers have a place to smoke most everywhere on the ship.

It's not like the so-called non-smoking areas in some states (MO, for instance), where you sit on the other side of a partition and get dirty looks from the non-smokers 3 feet away.

Works for both camps! :D
