Jeff&Mel Posted April 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We will be sailing on our 4th cruise soon.... We have never eaten at a specialty restaurant we really enjoy the main dining room. BUT as part as our TA perks for this cruise we are given a voucher for free dining at a specialty restaurant. I am trying to figure out which night is the best... SO if you eat a t specialty restaurants- which night would you recommend and why? TIA:):)
Clarea Posted April 25, 2014 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2014 If you have early MDR seating, then I'd book on a port day you might want more time before dinner.
sarahs06790 Posted April 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted April 25, 2014 We typically book it the last night because there is usually not much going on and we're not big fans of the menu on the last night. When they used to give envelopes, we would go deliver the tips to our waiters so they knew we were not stiffing them.
setsail Posted April 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Any night, its the same menu. We generally book on ship and just take what is open
Cindy Posted April 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2014 I usually book for nights when we don't care as much for the menu in the MDR. Those nights (on a seven night cruise) are the last night (Pomodoro menu), and whatever night during the week they serve either the Sh itake (Sorry, mistake on purpose to thwart the CC censor!) or Sage menu. Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted April 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted April 25, 2014 Online somewhere has the nightly menu's choose the one that you like least. If your doing a shore excursion or be in port long and you don't want to rush for dinner you can choose that day also. Usually the only nights we eat in the MDR are on formal evenings when the menu we feel is the best, although this next cruise on the Allure we only eating in the MDR on night 5 which is a formal night maybe....lol

SO if you eat a t specialty restaurants- which night would you recommend and why? TIA:):) Which ship? If Oasis or Allure I would go to Chops if it is the old menu. If you are a large party then Giovanni's is worth going to as it is family style and you can try so many different items, all of which are good. As an extra night of dinning, go to 150 Central Park on the first night of the cruise. We got a 20% discount for having dinner there on the first night. Vouchers are usually not valid for 150 Central Park or Chef's Table. If going on Oasis, see my review by clinck on link below. I have the compass for eastern and a lot of "food porn" from the specailty restaurants.
leahlovescruising Posted April 25, 2014 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2014 go with the menu you dislike the most. im not really digging the last night mdr menu so we're going to head to chops. We also didn't want to do a speciality rest. on a port day. I might want to fall into bed after spending the day in the sun and not have to worry about a reservation time.
