beverage packages

Does Holland American offer beverage packages like RCL and Celebrity? Not big drinkers but we have found alcohol prices are very high and beverage packages have proven to be cost efficient. If they do what is the cost and where can I find them on the web site.

HAL does offer beverage cards in various denominations but there is no discount on the drinks. A $100 card buys a $100 of drinks. The only exception is a Fountain Drinks card that costs $25 and buys $50 of fountain drinks.

The main advantage of the beverage cards is that it keeps the drink charges off of your room account and makes it much easier to monitor that account for errors.

On the HAL website look for indulgences and then beverages and you will see what is available.

Have a great cruise.

We don't feel that the drink package is worth it to us. Too many restrictions. We like Grey Goose and even though it is $6.95 (under the $7 limit) -- it is a premium alcohol and not covered by this package. There is no way we could drink about $51 (includes 15% gratuity) each a day.

As said the Beverage Cards are better for some of us even though there is no discount on them. As soon as we get a new receipt, I throw away the old one. Don't have a ton of receipts to check on the last morning of the cruise.

KK - Perhaps someone gave you bad information, but you most definitely *can* get Grey Goose on the SBP.

We got Grey Goose with tonic & lime, Grey Goose with soda and lime, and even a Grey Goose Bloody Mary (from the $6.95 Bloody Mary Bar at the Lido pool bar.)

You can't take one of the $6.95 specialty cocktails that contains vodka and substitute Grey Goose on the SBP. You may or may not be able to have a Grey Goose Martini. We didn't try that. You wouldn't be able to have a Cosmopolitan ($6.95) with Goose because the Cosmo add Grey Goose would exceed $7.

But as long as you were drinking Grey Goose up, on the rocks, or with tonic, or soda, you can indeed get Grey Goose.

The only two vodkas not available on the Signature Beverage Package were Chopin & Belvedere.
