Cruise ships in Ports in Alaska

How many cruise ships are docked at any particular city in Alaska at one time? One, two, three etc. How crowded does it get?

It varies and will depend on the port and the particular day. I have seen as many as three or four ships in some ports while, in others, we have been alone. The towns where the ships dock are fairly small so they can get a bit crowded at times, but never so crowded that we haven't been able to see and do everything that we wanted. There are some websites that indicate which ships will be in a particular port on a certain day. Checking them should help you see what you can expect when you are there.

I have seen as many as 3 in port. Ketchikan I have always thought was the busiest, but that's just my observation

I've seen four ships in Skagway . One time in Juneau I saw four ships at the pier and one anchored .

Thanks so much for posting this site it was very informative. Unfortunately just saw that 5 ships are in Juneau on June 1st :eek: and 4 in Ketchikan on June 2nd. Will make the best of it.

Just a note that 4 ships @ 2200 pax each in Skagway (population 750) is quite different than 5 ships @2200 in Juneau (population 36,000.) Do the math.
