One of my most striking memories on a cruise was we were stationed off of Hubbard Glacier on a perfectly sunny day. Spent a couple hours there and the Capt. was going to move the ship and I would be able to get a picture of this huge site on a perfect day. So I ran down to my room to do that. I ran thru the casino and there were some people in there playing slots. Never could figure out why they were on the cruise. I should have taken their picture. So obviously they are open.

Though we are about to do our 3rd Alaska cruise, I might understand this.

The scenery is awesome, but for some, it will get, well... boring at some point. For some, 20 minutes, others at maybe an hour, a few hours watching a glacier, well....

were going on a cruise out of seattle to the inside passage.im assuming most of the cruise is not in international waters. are the casino btw were on the miracle open daily?

Can't help you with the Miracle, but the casinos on the NCL ships that do the Alaska run are open in between ports of call.

I figured they were bored and I wonder what they think "interesting" is. I bet they didn't see the ice worms.

The casinos should open the first night once the ship is out of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. If there's a delay leaving Seattle, or fog which slows the ship a bit, it might be quite late before it opens. Coming back, on the last day for the stop here in Victoria, the casino will close once the ship enters the Strait (likely sometime around 2 pm or so).

On sea days, the casino will be open. On port days, it will depend on what time you arrive and leave a port as to the hours the casino will be closed. Also, if the ship cruises Glacier Bay, the casino will not be open during the time it's in Glacier Bay.

Even though we are currently on the Pearl in Alaska, not sure what the rules are. They have already posted that the casino will be open 30 minutes after leaving Juneau.

I do know they are strict about NOT being open while in the waters of Washington state.
