I would love to do the Salsa, Salsa, and Marg. or the Bar Hop but we are traveling with our 8 yr old.

So..... what's family friendly? We really need activities to avoid hearing the 'I'm bored" statement. The last beach resort we went to provided beach toys for the sand. My daughter did enjoy that!

Thanks!

BAR HOP now has a "family" Kids Hop. Looks like a lot of fun for a family. Mom and Dad can have some cocktails and the kids will have plenty of entertainment. Here's the info from their site:

Cozumel Kids Hop- Beach fun for the whole family!

Then come join us on the Cozumel Kids Hop! We combine a relaxing atmosphere for the adults, with a safe and fun beach setting for the kids. Based on our popular Cozumel Bar Hop, our guests were always asking “Is there something like this that I can take my children on?” Si, there is now!

Parents want to unwind a little and the kids want to play at the beach. We deliver both- all in the same fun tour! We will pick you up at our central meeting point and first take you to the island’s east side.

There are oodles of things to enjoy at each of the stops, including sheltered, safe, wading/swimming areas, a swimming pool, slides, lots of hammocks, lounge chairs and umbrellas and more! Oh, and seemingly endless wide open stretches of sand, perfect for beach-combing, collecting shells and sea glass!

The third and final stop is Paradise Beach on the west side, which features a huge pool, gorgeous blue sea, kayaking, water slide, floating swim mats, paddle boards, 14 ft climbing iceberg and sooo much more!

Highlights include:

FREE Cozumel Kids Hop t-shirts for all!

Easy, central pickup point downtown.

3 stops of about 1'15" each at Punta Morena, Chen Rio and Paradise Beach!

Use of sand toys included!

Air conditioned transport with rockin’ tunes!

Only $29USD kids/$49USD adults!

5 hour tour

Professional bonded and insured driver.

All ice and bottled water is made with purified bottled water.

Additional beverages and food is available at extra cost.

Your Hop Host will escort you around the island, where you will spend approximately an hour and a quarter at each of the beach stops. Each of the stops have clean restrooms, and all restaurants use purified water and ice for drinks and cooking. All Kids Hop guests receive a free t-shirt too!!

If you want a relaxing beach day, and not spend a lot of money, Paradise Beach is a winner. It's a short taxi ride from the cruise terminal, a $3 pp entrance fee, which includes lounge chair, umbrella, beach and pool access, clean showers/bathrooms/free wi-fi. They have a bar/restaurant to purchase food/beverages. We had a great day there in March.

This seems perfect for me and my kids to go to for the day.

Our most memorable trip to Cozumel, was when we took a private jeep tour with cozumel cruise excursions dot net. We read all of their great trip advisor reviews, and went ahead and booked online.

$10 person but included and some other things were included. We paid less than $70 which was a great price.

How many people were in your group? When you say "private", was it really just your people? How many people per jeep? We're traveling in a groups of six, which is an odd number for this kind of thing, since we want to stay together, preferably in the same vehicle. This sounds like a great way to see the island while avoiding the crowds.

Only think I saw Tulum once. Has nobody done it, or is it that bad?

Tulum is on the mainland, so I'm guessing since this topic is about your favorite "Cozumel" excursion, the responses are mostly for Cozumel.

Can you do Tulum from Cozumel, yes, but it's not on Cozumel.

If you do the Cozumel Bar Hop are you at any one location long enough to snorkel?

No. The water at the beaches on the bar hop are fairly rough. We've snorkeled on that side of the island and it was AMAZING!!!!! But it was toward the north, and a really long swim out to the reef. (we were with a tour). When we were on the bar hop they said they would let us know which beach we could swim at.....but I don't remember anyone going in. You have about 50 mins. at each bar/stop.

I would not plan on snorkeling on the Bar Hop.

Thank you all for the awesome information! My wife and I are about to get serious and look at all this and make a decision. I will let you all know what we choose and then when we return I will post a review of what all we did.

Thank you all again.

Thanks for the info...have been considering booking with them later this year. Their Trip Advisor reviews are through the roof ! Everyone seems to love them.

Holland America offers a similar tour "Cozumel Beach Bash" for about $70.00.

Anyone know if that tour is the same/better/worse than the privately run Cozumel Bar Hop ?

We booked the "Cozumel Beach Bash' from HAL and were very disappointed when they cancelled due to not enough people signing up. We instead did our own beach bash by going to the taxi stand and hiring a taxi for the day. Much cheaper than the ship excursion, and we got to tailor it to our interests. I would definitely do that again!

We hired the Private Driver for the day and had a great time, especially hitting the wild side. Loved Cozumel.

Another vote for Passion Island. I did this excursion with a bunch of boys & parents on a Senior (high school graduation) cruise. The boys had a blast on all of the "wipeout" style beach toys, while the parents enjoyed the beautiful beach! We had free drinks and a wonderful buffet lunch too!

My favorite was the amazing secret river (Rio Secreto). They take you to Playa del Carmen ~ you go thru a blessing ceremony before you enter an underground river. It was fantastic!

A few years ago my husband, daughter (then 12) and I did the cave snorkel/beach/jeep drive. It included an authentic Mexican prepared lunch on the beach. We had an AWESOME time on this excursion.

Last year when my daughter (then 15) and I were there I wanted to do something very inexpensive so we took a cab ($12 round trip for both us) to Paradise Beach. We paid another $2 each for chairs. They have a gorgeous pool, awesome beach and it is beautifully landscaped! We had an awesome time! They also have some blow-up water sports as well. I can't remember the price.. I wanna say $10pp. The food was "the bomb!". We would definitely do this again when we want to penny pinch- which we often do sometimes when cruising.

In 3 weeks we will be trying Mr. Sanchos. I've read some really great reviews on the place and hope it lives up to them. We purchased the VIP couples package ($200) which includes massages on the beach. My daughter (now 16) is really looking forward to that part of our excursion...oh, and to the canopy covered "beds" on the beach! :D

We have been to Cozumel several times, so the last time we were there we booked a cruise line sponsored tour to Tulum. Fantastic!

In case your interested, here is a link to the slide show my wife made for her website with some of the pictures she took.

Tulum Shore Excursion

Happy cruising!

Love your pictures!! We are going to the western Caribbean in February! My husband loves to take photos, also!!

We did the helmet dive thru RCI, and had the time of our lives.

Great orientation and safety preparation.

3 attendants in scuba gear at your side.

Very safety conscious.

Nice underwater "man made reef" with fishies and small creatures.

Close to port, yet far enough away from the crowds.

If claustrophobic, not for you.

Definetely would do again.
