EZ4 Posted May 5, 2014 #26 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I bet most of the people in the line are removing tips. Be sure to double up on yours to help carry the load. ;)
sgttami Posted May 5, 2014 #27 Share Posted May 5, 2014 In 22 years of cruising the only time I used Guest Services was to pay my account off after I won big in the casino!! That was a long time ago....before the days of kiosks and interactive TV!! Pam
uababs Posted May 5, 2014 #28 Share Posted May 5, 2014 On my last cruise I had to go to GS on disembark day to get my SnS card replaced! Seems I left it in my pants pocket the night before, and packed those pants in my checked luggage!! But I was awake very early, and only one other person in line. He had also packed his card!! Of course, I was tempted to not replace the card, since you can't get off the ship without it :p

Aplmac Posted May 5, 2014 #30 Share Posted May 5, 2014 It's all about the timing. I'm an early riser, and going to Guest Services before 7 a.m. is by far the best time to go. Easy. No line. You're IT. .
ItsAllAboutTheSass Posted May 5, 2014 #31 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I'm always surprised by the long lines of people at Guest Services, especially on the morning of disembarkment? I find that Carnival Kiosk has removed my most common need for GS which is change, although I usually try to stop by the bank and get smaller bill for porter tips, room service tips, etc. I am able to put money on my SS via the kiosk, get back any refund on the last morning and check SS charges. I can also check charges on the cabin TV, which I periodically do so if there are any issues I can go to GS when they aren't busy. The last thing I want to do...other than have to get off the ship, is to wait in a long line verse enjoying the last few moments of my vacation. I find most issues or requests I have are handled by the room steward. So are the people waiting just unaware of the services the kiosk and in room TV channels can provide? Is Carnival making that many mistakes on SS charges? Some people just like to deal with people. My father still goes into the branch to get cash instead of using the ATM. e150club Posted May 5, 2014 #32 Share Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) On our last Miracle cruise we had four ajoining balcony cabins. A person from each cabin had to go to GS in order to get the balcony dividers opened. Three of us went and they sent a blue coat to put a clamp on the rail to hold the door open. [edit] On other cruises the Steward opened them. Edited May 5, 2014 by e150club
EZ4 Posted May 5, 2014 #33 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Some people just like to deal with people. My father still goes into the branch to get cash instead of using the ATM. I prefer dealing with machines. They don't call security on me. :p
Sarah@Sea Posted May 5, 2014 Author #34 Share Posted May 5, 2014 I bet most of the people in the line are removing tips. Be sure to double up on yours to help carry the load. ;) Reading the "butter up" post and seeing that some people give $100 up front to room stewards I'm less concerned that other people remove tips. Seems it probably all evens out for most crew. I usually pre-pay and tip individual at the end for excellent service.
Sarah@Sea Posted May 5, 2014 Author #35 Share Posted May 5, 2014 Please educate me. what is Kiosk? See I think many people just do not know they exist or think they are ATMs. Oddly enough after I posted this thread JH posted on FB asking who using the kiosks. Andoria Posted May 6, 2014 #36 Share Posted May 6, 2014 Just off the Splendor and I went to Guest services several times. I lost my ecig battery:( and went periodically to check if someone brought it to Lost and Found. I turned in a pair of eyeglasses I found, asked for robes for my parents and asked for directions to the Internet Cafe. Every person behind the desk was friendly and helpful. The remote to the TV in my stateroom was funky. You had to press the buttons several times and it was a PITA. I much preferred the kiosk but some people were painfully slow using it. shoppingfever Posted May 6, 2014 #37 Share Posted May 6, 2014 The kiosk nor the television option ever gave me a correct account of what was in our account. We used cash and gift cards on our S&S and husband and I were linked together. His would show one amount and mine another. If we added more on the account, it would show up on one folio but not the other. Honestly, it was very confusing and just easier for me to stop by Guest Services and get a print out. The print out was completely different than what either of our accounts said on the kiosk or on the TV.
Davey Wavey Posted May 6, 2014 #38 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I have heard people checking lost and found once more before leaving and cashing travelers checks. I have gone when a charge for unreturned equipment appeared on the final bill...TV and kiosk didn't help with that, but I went early when there was no line. aaron3219 Posted May 6, 2014 #39 Share Posted May 6, 2014 I went to GS twice. Once to fix the tips, and once to cash out(which I could of done at the machine) I wanted to go more as there was a one the most beautiful women I have ever seen(besides my wife) working there every day. She was from Estonia...and she should of been modeling not working for a cruise line.
