Castaway Cay 5K

My daughter (14) and I are both interested in participating in the Castaway Cay 5k. She is planning to run and I would like to walk. Is walking allowed as long as you do so at a brisk pace? Also, what time does the race usually start? My daughter is signed up for the teen adventure which starts at 9:30. Is there enough time for her to finish the race and get to the excursion on time? Thanks in advance.

It's possible, but I wouldn't count on it. If she can do both, she's going to have to finish fast, and might not have time to change between the activities. I would have her carefully watch the time and skip the race if she's not going to be able to make her excursion. If she has to meet on the ship for the excursion, I can't see her having time to do the run, return to the ship, and be on time. Sorry!

Start time depends on ship clearance customs. In April We met on ship at 8:15 but didn't leave til close to nine. Then you walk about 10 min to start site. It will be close. Also I think to be official participant you have to be 15 though they don't prevent her from running along side. I think you could brisk walk no problem. I'm a slow runner.

The 5K used to be for those 12 & up and that's now been changed to include those 10 & up.
