TransOceanCruiser Posted May 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 13, 2014 According to posts on this site, 2014 with be the last year for the Grand Pacific & Far East Voyage. Posters have stated that it is being replaced with a 50 day South Pacific cruise. With HAL taking their time in getting the 15/16 calender out, can anyone with knowledge shed some light on this itinerary? Thanks Ty
cruzingnut Posted May 29, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 29, 2014 I'm very interested in this also. Not happy that they are stopping the usual cruise though and seriously will be unhappy if it doesn't start/end in the States. I don't fly...this is my favorite Grand....oh man....I don't want to go with another line. Linda R. ANSalberg Posted May 30, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 30, 2014 This was one of our totally favorite cruises -FROM the USA into Asia; and about 75 days. We've done 3 or 4; the 4th was a WWII cruise last fall -similar itinerary BUT Island stops with recognizable WWII battlefield names. LOVED those but the last cruise was TOTALLY wonderful. We did one World Cruise but for us -we felt 120 [?] days was about 30 days beyond what we were comfortable with. Althought the World itinerary was marvelous [ USA into Asia but then heading MORE west; India/Red Sea/Egypt -then more familiar Mediterranean ports. With all the politically HOT areas. HAL may simply be cautious about itineraries. At least I HOPE that's it; I'd do Asia again in a heartbeat/Australia/NZ -home FROM there with no long flights! IDEAL if you are retired and want an adventure. Anne
cruzingnut Posted May 30, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 30, 2014 Wow, where did you get hold of the itinerary for that? I like the 5 stops in Hawaii; the most we've stopped there is 3 days. Also, love the south pacific islands. Did a bunch of those a couple times and they are just beautiful! Still not happy that we won't get to Asia or Australia (or anywhere in between)....that cruise is one we could take every year! I guess I'll have to be satisfied with what we can get without having to fly.... I think these big changes (ie: Grand Med that now goes to the Med from Fl and doesn't come back anymore) are because there are so many ships that are nearly permanently "parked" in Asia, Australia and Singapore.
