On board credit question

My last 2 cruises the promotional OBC wasn't posted until the second day so they required a credit card or small cash deposit. Since I had prepaid the service charge nothing was charged but if not that has to be covered by something other than OBC. If the gift was from someone purchasing the credit for you that should be posted right away but you need to make sure when you get onboard that its really there and the daily service charge can be covered by purchased OBC.

Make sure to take a confirmation of the gift with you and check with the service desk on the ship as soon as you board that its there.

Based on past history, I would not bother until the 2nd day.

1 - The desk will be busy with "issues"

and

2 - Sometimes they do not have the data and need to check with corporate, etc.

3 - You may already have a slip of paper in your room.

And yes - -BRING WHATEVER PAPERWORK YOU HAVE WITH YOU.

You will need to give a credit card or cash to secure your account - and like others have said, take paperwork with you. If you don't already have one, ask for an Amenities Confirmation from your Travel Agent.

Have a great time!

This may be obvious already, but even with the confirmation you just received from NCL, I would be prepared to 1) present a credit card when you check in or 2) have a small amount of cash to put on your account if needed. Some times OBC just doesn't seem to show up on the ship's computers until day 2. So if you want to buy drinks or something on day 1, you'll need money in your account or the account needs to be secured by a credit card. When you go to check in, the people will not have your OBC information in front of them -- they are only provided with the basics to get you checked in and on board -- and probably don't even work for NCL (they are usually contract workers provided by the port). So they will require you to either present a credit card or they will process you as a cash-paying passenger by instructing you to go to Guest Services as soon as you board to put some money on your account. You can't verify whether OBC is on your account until you actually get on the ship and go to Guest Services.
