BJJ3rd Posted May 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Hey all, Heading down to Nassau on our upcoming cruise here at the end of this month, and we are looking to see Atlantis. The Aquaventure Half Day excursion in particular is the one we think we would like to do. I tried calling Carnival today to get these questions answered, but the lady I spoke with came off as completely clueless, at best. Was hoping some of you could possibly help... 1.) The excursion says that we have 4 hours. Do these 4 hours include the time it takes to get to/from Atlantis, or is this the amount of time we will be permitted to use the water park features of the resort? 2.) Once our 4 hours conclude, are we permitted to stay at the resort longer until our ship departs to see other portions of Atlantis, such as The Dig, casino, etc., or must we return to the ship with the group in which we came? Of course, if we did stay longer, I do understand we would be responsible for getting back to the ship on time, and at our own additional cost. Any help that can be given will be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much ahead of time! BJJ3rd
livsmom Posted May 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 18, 2014 When we went in 2011, we had limited time too. There were shuttles taking folks back to the port every 20 minutes or so. When we got to Atlantis they gave us a short tour and let us loose. So you will have as much time as you take as long as you get back to the ship on time. It is a pretty cool place have your camera ready! The dig is really cool and those slides are pretty awesome! BJJ3rd Posted May 18, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted May 18, 2014 livsmom, Thanks for the reply! So are you saying that you actually were not restricted to the 4 hour time limit once you got there?
Beachlover1964 Posted May 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2014 We did this excursion in January. You are not restricted to 4 hours. Here is how it works. You meet the tour when you get off the ship and sign waiversand get your wristband . You are escorted to the buses--it was less than 10 minute drive to the resort. There is a tour, but we ditched it and went straight to the water park. When we were there in January, the water park closed at 5 I believe (perhaps it stays open later in the summer?). There were buses going back to the pier every 20 minutes or so, and the last bus was around 5:30. You could stay later and take a taxi back. BJJ3rd Posted May 18, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Beachlover1964, Thank you for the reply! Did you have unlimited access to The Dig and other portions of Atlantis as well?
Beachlover1964 Posted May 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Right, the resort does not limit your time there. Enjoy, we had so much fun there, and it was an amazing resort.
Beachlover1964 Posted May 18, 2014 #7 Share Posted May 18, 2014 I'm sorry I can't answer that one, we stayed at the water park the entire time.
BJJ3rd Posted May 18, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Thank you for your help, Beachlover1964! I believe I read that we will have access to the other areas, so hopefully that is the case. Learning that they are not strict regarding the time is a great help though! Thank you again!
LHP Posted May 18, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 18, 2014 Last time we were there...the water park opened at 10AM....our ship sailed at 3pm...so we just grabbed a taxi and bought tickets at the Kiosk...(I think they were $110 a person but that was 2 years ago)...instead of taking the ship excursion. We have done The Dig and all that several times before....so we just did the waterpark.
BJJ3rd Posted May 18, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted May 18, 2014 LHP, Thank you for the reply! Were taxis readily available? In particular at Atlantis in order to return to the ship later on in the evening? Or did you have to call for one to get back from Atlantis to the cruise ship? Thanks! pe4all Posted May 19, 2014 #11 Share Posted May 19, 2014 There are tons of taxis lined up at Atlantis. Do not have to call one. Taxi was $4 pp back to the ship, plus tip.
