Congrats...I played a lot and have never won on a cruise.....but someone has to win!!

That is what people who play the lottery say also. Sure, somebody wins, but it is unlikely that it will be you. BTW, I gave up buying lottery tickets about 20 years ago.

the last bingo is the only one where the payoff is actually worth it.. The regular days the cash payout compared to cost of the machine just isnt worth it unless you have absolutely nothing else to do.

Getting ready to go on our first Royal Caribbean cruise, but having been on other lines understand as you noted not all games payouts are created equal. When you say the last days Bingo, I see there is a 10am snowball buy 2 get 1 free and then there is the final jackpot bingo. I would imagine you are referencing the final jackpot bingo as the best due to prize amount?

Also does anyone remember the cost for the machines? And was the cost always the same regardless of the prize?

Always appreciate everyone's time with answering!!

The bingo master mentioned that on a recent cruise someone in a crown loft suite ended up winning. That's what they got. There are no substitutions. The suite went unused I guess. Not sure why the woman was playing for that in the first place.
You can't fix stupid:cool:

Haven't ever played bingo on a cruise. Won't ever play bingo on a cruise. I guess it's no different than playing in the casino, but idk, I just feel like the odds of me winning are so few, and I'd rather play my 50.00 on penny slots haha, not that that option is much smarter.

Would be cool to win a cruise tho

I like to play Bingo on a cruise. Gives me something to do and meet others whilst DW is having an afternoon nap.

Have won a few hundred on the last 3 cruises but i have no idea what you are all talking about "machines" There is no such animal on Australian sailings and in fact our method of playing the Bingo cards appears to be different too.

Will be doing Alaska later this year and hope they just have the standard "paper" Bingo although i doubt on that particular cruise very many will have time for Bingo.

At least the $50 in the penny slots will last a lot longer. The odds of winning at the slots is better than bingo. But, most likely you will lose the $50 either way.... :)

I like the machines a lot better because I'm lazy. They do all the work. It's hard to keep track of all the cards manually if you have a large number of them especially when there's only 10-15 seconds between each number being called.

You also get specials when they don't sell out the trackers. For the final jackpot session last week they sold me the first tracker for $67 + a few bonus manual cards and then later they offered as many more trackers as I wanted for $20 per. I bought two more.

I won my second free cruise via bingo last week. I won my first one back in '07. I'm something like 2 for 13. Anyone else win more than one?

I'm still confused about what these machines are and by the sound of it I hope they never introduce that system to our sailings.

With the system used on ships sailing out of Australia and including TP from Hawaii they use the Aussie system of calling numbers and you then mark them off on a paper card using a pencil or highlighter pen. You can play (buy) as many cards as you think you can handle usually at $22 for 3 or $32 for 6. They play 4 games per session which lasts about 45 minutes.

We feel that the calling rate is too slow but they do speed it up to about every 2-3 seconds at the end of the cruise and on the jackpot games.

Bingo is very popular at our ex servicemens clubs where the calling rate is every 1-2 seconds and even the older people do keep up. Its heads down though with no talking. When there is $10,000 at stake on a TP cruise, you dont want someone yelling out questions.

Congrats!!

My wife and I spent part of our honeymoon on Allure this past December. She hates bingo in general, even more so on the cruise ships.

We were headed to the theater room for something. Can't remember now. Anywho, I decided to pick up a card since she stopped off to book us on the All Access Tour and before meeting back up with me at the theater. Turns out they were having door prizes for this session.

My wife found me and I knew she was upset with me for playing. Mainly because of the high prices and poor odds. Then she told me about not being able to book us on the tour because it was sold out. She had barely spoken those words to me when they announced the next door prize. Two tickets to the all access tour. Yes, you can see where this is going. Lol

I told her it was ok that it was booked, because I'm going to win the door prize with the tickets! They literally called my name out just after I told her that. I couldn't believe it. It was meant to be! And it only cost me $30 for the tour instead of $300. It was a better prize payout than anything they offered during that session in terms of dollar value. Was a shortened session.

Correct... The snowball jackpot rarely seems to go before the last session... I think the machines were like $50ish... They go quick for the last session. get in line early.

The machines were $67 in a package when we played. For that you got the machine and 3 paper cards for each of the 4 games.

They had machines left over for the win a cruise bingo session and like 5 minutes before the games began, they offered "extra" machines for $22. It was a mad dash and some people got 2-3 extra machines. Of course one of the people that got 2 extra machines ended up winning the cruise. Like I said initially, I really dislike the machines, but if you're playing you really have to have them to have a realistic chance.

I took my wife on our first cruise for her 40th birthday and never played bingo for anything in my life. I ended up winning a free 7 night cruise on the Jewel and was able to upgrade to a balcony for less than $100.

One of the specials for CA members is buying two machines and getting the third free.

I think the Cruise bingos may only be done on the longer cruises.

Unfortunately, a free cruise won't give you any CA points... ;)
