peggisue Posted May 22, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I'm curious if any recent cruisers have been on the Victory and if Luggage Express is offered. My return flight is out of FLL, and not sure if the Luggage Express option will be available for me? Anyone had a similar experience?
LAdad Posted May 22, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 22, 2014 Bump. Sorry I don't have the info you're looking for. But it's a great question! I'm also looking for Luggage Express out of Miami Seaport to FLL airport but off of the Conquest on Virgin America Airlines. To broaden the question a bit.. Does anyone know if there is a list of Luggage Express participating ships/ ports/ airlines? I haven't found any such info on the Carnival website. I've called Carnival in the past and the person didn't know. It's hard to plan for debarkation without knowing if we will have to carry our luggage around with us all day. So, Does anyone know if there is a list of Luggage Express participating ships/ ports/ airlines? Thank you.
Straitlover Posted May 22, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I don't recall it being offered back in September.
angie1818 Posted May 22, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I've not been on the Victory yet (going Jun 5th) but a couple of years ago when we sailed the Destiny they offered luggage express from the POM to FLL. We flew Southwest for that trip. We are flying Delta this time. Surely they will offer from the Victory as well. Makes such a difference. I'll need it in a couple of weeks. 14 days and counting down!!!!
collect$ Posted May 22, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 22, 2014 When we were on the Liberty they did not offer luggage express from Miami to FLL. We are sailing on the Breeze from Miami in October and would like to know if they are offering it for that ship. Elaine
angie1818 Posted May 22, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2014 I just found this on the Carnival Forum site. http://www.carnival.com/Funville/cruisereviews/p/486459.aspx Luggage Express Carnival’s On-Board Check-in Program Carnival is offering a convenient airline and luggage check-in service to our guests at select ports and/or ships. Currently, this service is being offered: PORTS SHIPS Port Canaveral Dream Port Everglades Freedom / Miracle Miami Liberty / Valor / Triumph / Destiny / Imagination / Glory Tampa Legend San Juan Victory San Diego Elation / Spirit Spirit Vancouver Rather than check in at the airport for the return flights, eligible guests may choose to participate for just a nominal fee of $20 per person. Guests will receive both their airline boarding passes and their luggage tags while they are enjoying their vacation at sea. Better yet, they will only need to place their checked luggage outside of their stateroom and will not touch it again until they claim it at their final destination. · Only a maximum of two bags per guests can be checked-in. · Guests must be U.S. Citizens with a valid passport or Permanent U.S. Resident. · Flight/s must be on a participating airline, departing from the Airport on the same day of debarkation to a U.S. airport destination. Early in the cruise, eligible guests receive an invitation in their stateroom to participate in the program. They complete the registration form and sign it to authorize a $20 per person charge to their Sail & Sign account and then drop it off at the Guest Services Desk. The day prior to debarkation, airline boarding passes, luggage tags along with a letter are delivered to the stateroom. Guests place the tags on the luggage that will be checked in and then place it outside their stateroom for collection. On debarkation day, participants may debark at their convenience (see procedure below for guests departing from Vancouver). The luggage will be transferred from the ship to the corresponding airline and flight. Guests must claim their bags upon flight arrival at their final destination. If there are any delays or problems with their luggage, guests need to contact the airline to report any problems. Debarkation Day Procedures for Guests Departing from Vancouver On debarkation day, participants will be required to meet in a designated lounge for priority disembarkation. · Eligible guests that have a Carnival bus transfer (Fly Aweigh guests and Cruise Only guests with a pre-purchased transfer) have the additional benefit whereby they will be transferred directly from the ship to a specially designated airport facility. There, they are processed through passenger screening before proceeding directly to the U.S. departures area. Although a completed Customs form is required at both the port and the airport, there is no formal government interview. However, the agencies reserve the right to interview passengers at their discretion. · Guests that have not purchased a Carnival transfer will arrive independently at the airport terminal on the U.S. departures level. Once inside the terminal, they are able to by-pass airline check-in and enter a dedicated U.S. Residents Customs and Border Protection queue. Upon completion of all formalities, guests will go through the normal security screening before proceeding to the U.S. departures gate area. Note:Guests without a Carnival transfer will not be permitted to debark with guests that have a transfer. We recommend that all participating guests choose the same transfer option so as to avoid separation. nofishforme Posted May 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 24, 2014 I have used it several time out of miami on different ships over the years. They do offer it for flights out of fort lauderdale int'l airport but i think your flight has to be after 1:30 or 2:00 so they can get the luggage there scan it and get it loaded .. The best feature to this for me is i am always right at the weight limit getting on the ship (my suite case that is ) i always add more putting me over the 50lbs limit and i have never been charged for it they tag it heavy and let it go on so that save's me $25-$50 each time plus i dont have to carry my luggage around south beach all day while killing time waiting on my flight home
Nuff_Said Posted May 24, 2014 #9 Share Posted May 24, 2014 I just found this on the Carnival Forum site. http://www.carnival.com/Funville/cruisereviews/p/486459.aspx You do realize that this link is from 2010? hattack Posted May 25, 2014 #10 Share Posted May 25, 2014 The determining factor is the specific airline sorting baggage system at the airport (whether they have high tech sector baggage tag scan readers)
peggisue Posted May 26, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted May 26, 2014 I was able to get in contact with Carnival and found out that Luggage Express isn't available on 5-days or less. Since we are on a 5-day, looks like no Luggage Express for us on the Victory out of Miami. Dang - LOVE that service!
