Am Getting Free Cruise from Total Rewards

Just got this email from Harrahs yesterday. I'm really surprised it gives me until October 1st to pick it up. I get comps from CAS already for either an oceanview or balcony so I'm sure harrahs will be giving me an inside which is not better than what CAS gives me. We will see.

This is part of the email below: (am I reading it right?)

Take your hotel confirmation code to a Promotional Kiosk located across from Total Rewards® any Monday - Thursday from 10:00am until 8:00pm to redeem the cruise offer. A receipt will print from the Kiosk with booking instructions for Norweigan Cruise Line. The cruise offer can be redeemed at the Promotional Kiosk until 8:00pm on Wednesday, October 1, 2014.

I booked the comp room last night and was told that after check in I use the comp code at the kiosk and it will print the free cruise cert with the instructions. I have to book in two months and cruise within 6 months.

I got an email today telling me that I have been approved for the TR Visa and if I applied I would get a free cruise. They have been emailing me almost weekly wanting me to sign up for their card, but this is the first time they offered me a cruise for signing up for it.

I applied and was approved. I will get something in the mail, but my offer says that I have to book by the end of Sept and will have until July 2015 to sail.

Alaska here I come!!!

So in order to get the free cruise you HAVE to stay overnight?

Definitely different than the ones we get. We just have to show up on a certain day to receive the certificate.

Like the vast majority of casino comps, they expect you to stay overnight, and almost always throw in the free room. You do not really have to stay, just check in, and leave.

This has not been our experience. Free play, free cruises, buffets, merchandise giveaways, gas cards, etc. No strings attached. Just show up, collect your freebie and leave.

Of course, we enjoy the free rooms, too. Just spent three nights at Harrah's Cherokee.

Just home from picking up our free cruise from Total Rewards. They had a nice small buffet set out in the diamond lounge.

Excited because the cruise options included more than were on the postcard. I definitely wanted the Getaway and it is on the options. So off I am to book it for July of this year. Yeah!

A little pi$$ed off at the moment. They offered us our favorite cruise out of New Orleans on the postcard and the actual certificate. My husband called this morning and the only possible weeks you could take with this offer are blocked out. Why offer it if you are only going to say no?

They did the same thing last time. They offered me Alaska AFTER the season in Alaska was over. No way to schedule and meet the date requirements.

DH is on the phone right now trying to get one out of Tampa.

That is correct. You have to stay overnight on a Mon, Tues or Wed, then you get your free cruise certificate.

Do you have to pick from certain dates ? ( certain dates for certain ships)

I just read the details of my offer from Harrahs. Inside cabin for a 3-4 day NCL cruise. Not thrilled with this offer. Got one from the Taj Mahal in Atlantic city for a 7 night inside cabin on a variety of ships and 1 year to take the cruise. I booked it for last march and upgraded to a balcony. Just booked another on the Breakway 7 night cruise through CAS and was comped an oceanview. So what's the point of picking up the certificate from Harrahs?????? No benefit that I can see. I do better booking direct through CAS.

It all varies depending on each person, their play, the current cabin availability, etc. Hence different offers. They do not all originate from the same place or criteria.

Heck, I get free room offers from MGM in Vegas, and also get emails from the same casino with 25% off deals.

I have never had to stay overnight to pick up a free cruise from Total Rewards but the nights are offered. Also, I have only been offered a free cruise from CAS one time - the rest of the time it is 20% off.

The booklet they gave us this time did include cruises such as European ones which were not on the certificate so it is a bit confusing. We stayed with the free inside room but the agent gave us a much higher category on a top floor so it was way above the advertised price for the lowest inside.

We were booked at Harrahs AC for a weekend in July, so I cancelled that reservation and made one for a Mon/Tues in August. Even if we get the 4 night cruise, that is fine, as we would cruise for the 5 days and stay in South Beach for two days. We did that once before, and it worked out well.

  • 3 weeks later...

Picked up 2 certificates (Husband & I) in March at Harrah's in So. Calif. Lots of choices available, 12 different 7 day cruises, 3-5 day and 1-4 day. Didn't have to stay in the hotel to pick it up - just showed up and picked up both certificates. Sailing in a 2 BR Suite on the Gem next week.

We receive offers from both Harrah's and Caesars properties many times throughout the year and can just pick them up or stay at the hotel if we prefer. If you are receiving these type of offers, you most likely have a Host at the Casino. If it wasn't convenient to pick them up, we have asked our Host to just email them to us in the past and they have done that without a problem.

This option would not apply to everyone. Your play apparently is at a higher level than most and hosts can do "extra" things for you.

We had casino hosts at separate properties go above and beyond for us. One held the certificate until we could pick it up, the other mailed it to us.

Why? because we were already on a "free" cruise on the day in question.

We aren't whales by any means, but I'm sure our loyalty and play is appreciated.

I just received a certificate from harrahs in Atlantic city a couple of weeks ago. It was for an inside cabin. The other day I received a postcard from NCL offering $150 free play for certain cruises one being on the breakaway November 23 which I had already booked. I had received an oceanview comp from NCL so just had to pay for upgrade to balcony and of course taxes and port fees. Anyway I called today to see if they would add my free play to my existing cruise. My PCC said not only can they do that but this offer includes a comp balcony on a higher deck than I had and I would save $500. Awesome deal. Love my NCL CAS.

I have an amazing host at the Taj in Atlantic City. I was there this weekend I had needed to talk to him about a get together for me, DH and 4 other couples. Wanted to see if we can get a reduced rate for my friends. My room is comped. He is so great he is comping me 5 rooms for everyone and a suite for me so we gave a place to have drinks.

It pays to have a terrific casino host. He's one of the best I have ever had. Of course once in a while it doesn't hurt to throw him a few bucks. :-)

I'm so confused. I used to get the free cruise certificates through the Hard Rock/Casinos at Sea, but a couple of weeks ago, I got a card in the mail directly from Norwegian Cruise Line /Casinos at Sea for a slot tournament specially for August 9th. Sadly, I can't go on that one, but a week later, I got another card from Norwegian for a free cruise October - December (not holidays). So I'm wondering - what changed? Why (not that I'm complaining) am I getting these from Norwegian, I really didn't gamble that much. I'm taking them up on this offer and going on the Getaway. I was on the Getaway in April and really enjoyed the ship.

After sailing with a Land Based certificate, we found that callling CAS directly, we get as good an offer, if not better, than the land based certificates. Sometimes we get mailings from CAS, but mostly we just call CAS with dates in mind' and just pay port charges and taxes. Unfortuntly if you call repeated times, sometimes you will get different responses.

Safe sailing
