gillyd42 Posted May 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 24, 2014 Hope someone can help. We are spending time in New York pre and post cruise. Can anyone advise if I can get taxi to Bayonne from New York and vice versa, or would I have to arrange a car service. Travelling by train not really an option for us. Thanks in advance
138east Posted May 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted May 24, 2014 If traveling by public transit is not an option, you would have to arrange a car service like Dial7 or Carmellimo for about $100 each way including tolls and tip.
starfish216 Posted May 24, 2014 #3 Share Posted May 24, 2014 It's easier to get a taxi in Manhattan to take you to the cruise port. I don't recall seeing taxi's waiting in Cape Liberty when we disembarked last week. You may want to make prior arrangements for the return to Manhattan. Enjoy you cruise and welcome to New York. 138east Posted May 24, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 24, 2014 NY cabs are not required to take you to Cape Liberty. You have a greater chance of getting a cabbie that has never been there which means that you could be "taken for a ride". I don't remember what the exact fare rules are - perhaps one of the New Yorkers can provide that info. You would possibly pay the meter doubled plus tolls. We suggest a car service so you get a firm quote ahead of time plus a driver who has experience going to the Cruiseport. Services like Dial7 and Carmellimo will provide you a reliable service at the going rate. Be sure to ask about the tolls and tip. On your return you can get transportation back to Manhattan. When you exit customs you make a left and go to the livery dispatcher at the end of the tent. He will quote you a price and summon the car for you. There are no taxi lines at Cape Liberty because the space is needed for pickups and drop offs. The cars wait in other areas until they are needed. The dispatcher controls all unscheduled livery pickups.
jackaboo Posted May 27, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 27, 2014 Does anyone know how likely the toll amount will be from manhattan to the port? I've been quoted $50 one way fare. Just trying to figure out how much the total would be including tips and tolls
