Bringing back sand???

Some people collect it as a memento. I've seen pics of collections containing hundreds of little bottles of sand from all around the world.

 

I haven't brought back sand from overseas, but I have brought back sand from Florida. I sometimes make sandscapes - sand with little shells, bits of coral, sand dollars, etc, inside a pyramid-shaped glass unit. It's a decorative item often used on a desk. You can shake it to move the sand around to uncover some of the shells or other items and have little different sandscapes.

 

Here's a pic of one I did, although this one doesn't use beveled glass like I usually use:
