Sailin' Shoes Posted June 7, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2014 (edited) Do any of you folks know what the withdrawal limits are for the ATM on the Journey? Dollars per transaction, dollars per day, or whatever they may be? I need paper money to pay for US dollar denominated independently arranged shore excursions that I do not want to put on a credit card and I don't want to bring a bunch of cash with me if I can avoid doing so. This may be a question best directed to Bonnie but any and all input is welcome. Sailin' Shoes, sailin' soon[/quote'] I do not know what the limit per day is, however I do recall that the transaction fee was very high, somewhere around $10. My advice, bring the US cash with you. Sanatee Posted June 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 7, 2014 The fee on Quest was $6 which our bank reimburses. The limit was at least $300, but I don't know exact max or whether it is per day or per transaction.
Granny DI Posted June 7, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 7, 2014 I use the casino for cash on every ship. There is a 3% transaction fee. The casino puts the cash transactions on your ship board account...I then get points for all cc transactions. I've been doing this for at least 10 years. GrannyDI, when you say "the casino" do you mean the ATM in the casino or the bank? Sorry but I never use casinos any more.

You fill out a form and they charge the amount to your onboard account. I never use atm's on the ship...I use atms in port for local currency.I'm uncomfortable carrying large sums of cash on cruises. I use ATMs ashore for local currency as well but I will need 800 USD plus tip to pay for my St. Petersberg tour with SPB (I don't want to use a credit card in Russia). The ACC atms dispense US dollars and, as I recall, euros and my bank covers the ATM fee. The 3% cash advance fee from the cash window in the casino will probably deter me from using your method. I would not want to carry that amount of cash around even for a short time
Granny DI Posted June 9, 2014 #11 Share Posted June 9, 2014 There are foreign transaction fees on cc unless you have a special cc. I'm willing to pay 3% for convenience and safety.

But since no one knows what the atm limits are aboard I suggest we just drop the topic and I will work around it. Sailin' Shoes, sailin' soon[/quote'] Sailin' Shoes, here's the answer to your good question, verbatim: "The daily limit varies. Whatever bank issued them their cards determines the withdrawal limit. Physically, the ATM will only dispense 40 bills at a time, so for the US$20 ATM, they can get $800 and for the Euro 50 ATM, 2000 Euros. But if their card permits, they can withdraw that amount several times until they reach their limit." Preferably Euros these days ;) Tour companies will happily accept payment 7 days ahead, so use your internet allowance and do it that way, we did ;)
