When can you make reservations for a Behind the Fun Tour?? We're booked for the Magic Aug 2015! That's something that really appeals to my husband an engineer (civil)!! and do they allow people with Pacemakers on that tour?? or would you be exposed to too much electrical/magnetic interference??

As soon as you board you make a mad dash for the Excursions desk in the Main Lobby. Space is limited and it goes fast - but they may open up a second tour if the first fills up. I think it was $75/person in December.

I doubt you'd be exposed to excessive EMI, but you do go to the galley, engine control room and the bridge. Of those three, it is possible to have EMI but I have no idea how much and if it would even approach the levels needed to mess with a modern pacemaker. That said, if it DID cause issues then you would get a tour of the infirmary as well. :D

The tour requires climbing / descending very steep crew ladders. Anybody with mobility problems and / or endurance issues would likely have to abort the tour 1/3 of the way into it. But you would get a tour of the steakhouse, MDR kitchen, cold/dry storage and the engine room before you would need to break off and avoid multiple flights of stairs.

We would like to try it but we are both 44. Is it mainly kids or are there adults that try it?

I did the ropes course on the Magic last year - I was 45 then... lots of fun!

Since Magic is a 7 day cruise, you'll have plenty of time to explore the ship. I'd suggest two things:

Check the Fun Times each morning (or the night before) and plan your day around things you really want to do (like shows, bingo, casino tournaments, etc.) Bring a highlighter so you can highlight things you don't want to miss.

As for the ship itself, download a deck plan and work out an Embarkation day self-guided tour or the ship. There is so much the Magic has to offer!

Some of my favorite things:

Ropes Course

Magic Show

Comedian

Main Dining Room (don't miss dinner here - lots of choices and great food)

Water Works (my 6-year-old really loved this)

Atrium bar (just a cool area)

I know you'll enjoy the Magic.... we did so much we're going again in October!:)

Some people with pacemakers seem to think they shouldn't be able to enjoy life. You, obviously, do not fall into that category. In that case, bon voyage! I hope you can get a spot on the tour...it's well worth the time and money.

My husband and I both enjoyed the ropes course. We found the best time was before we left Galveston, when we pretty much had it to ourselves, because it was frequently closed due to winds while at sea and then the lines would grow when it finally opened. If you don't mind being around lots of kids, the sports deck and two-story mini golf area are very nice.

If you like hot tubs, those on the lanai deck were often empty and never crowded. The entire lanai is a great place to hang out, with the red frog pub, bbq on sea days, and quiet areas to relax.

My husband, who generally find cruise shows boring, enjoyed the illusionist and the juggler and thought most of the comedians were good.

Our favorite place for lunch was the burrito bar. It's all totally made to order, so I could get fajitas with the ingredients I like.

My favorite thing on the Magic are:

Red Frog Pub with Pub Grub ($3.33)

Cucina del Capitano for Lunch (free)

Atrium Bar...one of the prettiest I've seen

Taste bar for breakfast and lunch (they have great custom made salads and wraps)

C-side BBQ on sea days on the starboard Lanai

Either of the Lanai's, though the portside midship is smoking

Brunch in the MDR for breakfast or lunch

Cloud 9 Spa

Water Works for the kids

Rope course

Dive In movies in the evening

Lunch at Cucina del Capitano

We really enjoyed the food in the MDR

Walking on Deck 5

The Magic is a wonderful ship with lots to do. Enjoy your cruise.

The ropes course is great. It's for any age individual who is able and willing to try it. I go around the ropes course at least once on every Magic cruise. This picture was taken on our May 25, 2014 cruise...

We especially like the Red Frog Pub. When you go there, order the 101 oz. Thirsty Frog Red beer--it's really great...

Also, be sure to eat sliders and quesadillas outside on deck 5 at Ocean Plaza on sea days...

Here's hoping you have a really great and MAGICal cruise. Bon Voyage!

Thanks. Will definitely do the ropes course. The red frog pub sounds fun but I don't know if I could finish the 101oz. I will definitely give it a try.

I'm 63 and I've done it and plan to do it again in January with a new knee. I'll turn 64 on that cruise!

If you like Indian food, got to try Tandoor on the rear of Lido deck, best ever!!! The ropes course is a must, 2 times on the Magic and I still haven't made it to the water slides, so try them out. Cloud 9 steam area with awesome views at sea. Enjoy Yall's time!!!

We are just off the Magic for the third time as we live in Houston. She is a great ship and there is plenty to do and see day and night. Red Frog is one of our favorite spots to hang out but there is so much more to her. You didn't tell us your itinerary, but look at your ports of call for excursions you might enjoy too. The "Behind the Fun" tour is great as is the "Chef's Table" both of which I think have to be booked as soon as you board. They are on the expensive side but well worth it at least once. Also, check out the steakhouse at least once and the Cucina del Capitano for lunch (free) one day. Both are very good. If you like wine, take your allowed 1 bottle each. Enjoy the MDR, the comedy shows, production shows, trivia, karaoke, casino, Fun Shops, waterpark, pools, etc. Or just sit on your tail and watch the world go by. You will have loads of fun. Don't complain, have fun, meet new people, get to know your fellow cruisers and the crew of course. All the best!!!
