Heavens to Murgatroyd!! Immovable lamps!!

Azamara's two ships were refurbished less than two years ago and will be again three years after that. How often must they do it to satisfy you?

Other than new mattresses, the cabins were not refurbished at all, so I would say once every 15 years would be very nice!:)

Take it easy, my friend. Just posting my concerns with all the refurbishment Oceania has done on its three Renaissance ships. I also want Azamara, with its lovely shipboard experience and great staff, to stay in business.

The Quest was supposed to be refurbished in Nov 2012. It was going to be extensive and I think 3-4 weeks...then RCL yanked the money. All I can see different is the hull has been repainted. I remember when this happened as cruises to the Canaries were cancelled, then rescheduled etc because the refurbishment wasn't as advertised.....it was a mess. I booked our cruises based on the supposed refurbishment for Nov 2012. I didn't cancel when posters reported on CC that not much had been done.

Hello Tusabrat,

I've just read your post and its concerns me. We're booked on the Quest for the July 5, 2013 sailing. I've not been able to find any recent reviews regarding your statement..."cabins/hallways smell so bad that people are canceling their cruises...".

Could you please direct me to those reviews. It'd be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi - here are a few from 2014 - there are earlier ones too, but I've disregarded those as things change for better/worse, so in general I only go by reviews of the past few months

Hope this helps. I am still on the fence about cancelling this cruise and losing my deposit.

The Quest was supposed to be refurbished in Nov 2012... All I can see different is the hull has been repainted.

Besides the new hull colour, a list of changes has been previously posted. Perhaps they weren't noticeable. For example:

Public Spaces: new carpets, upholstery and colours.

Staterooms: new mattresses and verandah furniture

Pool Area: new sun loungers and resurfacing of the pool

Casino Bar: new furniture

Spa and Fitness: new steam rooms, showers and fitness equipment

Aqualina: new champagne and caviar bar

Staffrooms and crew areas: a range of enhancements.

The updating, of course, did not meet the expectations that had been created , and certainly was not as extensive as that recently carried out by Oceania.

For us personally, we really do not care very much as long as the ship does not appear "run-down" and it never has. But I certainly understand how opinions differ on this issue, and also the need for ACC to remain competitive.

Wish they would upgrade their website. It doesn't really fill me with confidence - no reservation information except a number and a total cost that changes every time you go in? Really, in this day and age, it's just not acceptable. I'm a computer programmer, it's really not that hard to link up a website to a database! What's worse is that Azamara have known about this issue for months, and choose not to do anything about it. My company freaks out if there is a semi-colon missing from a sentence!

When I booked my previous Azamara cruise, the reservation area was a great source of anticipation, now it's just a non-entity.
