AZ cruise getaways Posted June 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2014 Can anyone tell me what the best and easiest transportation would be out of Quebec City to get back to Boston, if you have a family member who will absolutely not get on an airplane? Love to hear good ideas on this one. Thanks.
Twickenham Posted June 18, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2014 You'll probably have a pretty hefty drop-off fee, but renting a car and driving is the way to go. You can also do it by train, but it would involve a roundabout route via Montreal and Albany.
sebas030 Posted June 18, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2014 No direct bus route from Quebec to Boston. So you would have to book: Orleans Express from Quebec to Montreal at, about, 57$ per adult. Greyhound from Montreal to Boston at 80$-100$ per adult depending. It could be as expensive as 160$ per adult....not cheap :(
KirkNC Posted June 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2014 I'd put the one non-flying family member on the bus and fly the rest of the family back. ;)
bookmomma Posted June 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 18, 2014 We rented a car from Budget. We will be picking it up from Quebec Airport and will be dropping off at Providence/TF Green Airport the next day. Including all fees it will only be $240 which we thought was very reasonable. Airfare was too expensive (we are a family of 4), and we checked out bus and train, but as other posters have said, there is no easy way to get here from there, plus it was also not cheap with 4 travellers. sebas030 Posted June 18, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 18, 2014 Make sure you pre-arrange the fact that you are going to the US with the car...If you have too, insist it is written in your e-mail confirmation. Every time we rent a car here in Quebec, it is written on the contract in bold "forbidden to drive to US". If your car insurance offers it, you should get the protection for rental car with 2 000 000$ coverage. Again here my insurance offers it for a year at 20$ and the rental agencies charge 20$ per day.... Make sure you have a large enough car to fit the luggage and expect 2h30 from Quebec to Montreal. Then about 5h30 from Montreal to Boston. It is the best way to get back home !!!
