Hikini Posted June 28, 2014 #51 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Yes, Sandy - I am loving your pictures. Every cruise I feel like I take so many pictures and then when I get home and look at them I always wish I had taken more. Your pictures make me realize there are so many things (detailed things) I am not taking pictures of. Look out Jewel in September! :D I'm glad to see the pictures of Moderno. Since B&L has been moved from Cagney's to Moderno I was curious to know what it looks like. Now I know! I will miss the galley being right there (like it is in Cagney's) because I kind of liked to watch them preparing the food sometimes.
TwinMommyByGrace Posted June 28, 2014 #52 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Sandy, Thanks for all the great pictures and information! I love cruising the "suite" life vicariously thru your review and pictures. We're so looking forward to our cruise on the Jewel in August and I can't wait! By the way, you and your husband are people after my own heart. Breakfast with bacon and a side of bacon! Yum! :D

brunolvr Posted June 28, 2014 Author #54 Share Posted June 28, 2014 We got off the ship about 8:45AM to beautiful blue skies and sunshine and it warmed up to 64F by the time we finished walking around Ketchikan and doing some souvenir shopping. We walked through town and over to Creek Street, then went up the Cape Fox Lodge Funicular ($4pp) to take a look at the “Council of the Clans” totem circle consisting of 6 different totem poles. Then we walked down the “Married Man’s Trail” back into town towards the waterfront promenade. The Jewel docked in Ketchikan- Creek Street- Waiting for the Cape Fox Lodge Funicular so we could ride up- Nice view of our ship- The Council of the Clans Totem Circle at the Cape Fox Lodge-

brunolvr Posted June 28, 2014 Author #56 Share Posted June 28, 2014 Since our last time in Ketchikan (2010), a new statue had been erected, "The Rock" and the Visitor's Center was nicely redone. Make sure you stop in the Visitor's Center and pick up the "Walking Tour Map". The Jewel docked in Ketchikan at Berth 1- I was a little disappointed to see this all scratched up. I thought something like that would have been redone while she was in dry dock before our cruise. And we're back on the ship enjoying a beautiful, sunny day! brunolvr Posted June 30, 2014 Author #57 Share Posted June 30, 2014 By about 11:30AM we were tired of walking and the crowds were getting pretty thick so we decided to head back to the ship. We opted for lunch at O’Sheehan’s to give their “fish & chips” a try. After lunch we walked around the ship. They were setting up for a BBQ on the pool deck and had chairs set up for passengers to enjoy the beautiful weather. We watched the float planes buzz rather close by as they were taking off and landing. My daughter and husband both really enjoyed the Buffalo wings in O'Sheehan's - And the spinach dip was pretty good too- And also the Mozarella sticks were good- And we all enjoyed the fish & chips-
brunolvr Posted June 30, 2014 Author #58 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Here's a picture of O'Sheehan's. They didn't have the new furniture for it yet but it was expected in a couple of weeks is what we were told. And another picture from O'Sheehan's- One of the many float planes flying near the ship. They were sure noisy! Chairs ready for the crowds when they get back onboard- And they've got the BBQ going-

brunolvr Posted June 30, 2014 Author #60 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Around 1:45PM, people were starting to take advantage of the nice weather and pool- More float planes- 2:11PM and there goes the Coral Princess headed to Juneau- Looking down from Deck 15 at the line of people trying to get back on the ship at 2:15PM- Finally the last of the passengers got onboard at 2:55PM after a late excursion bus arrived at the dock-
brunolvr Posted June 30, 2014 Author #61 Share Posted June 30, 2014 Finally about 3:15 the Jewel pulled away from the dock- Cruising by Ketchikan International Airport located on Gravina Island across the Tongess Narrows from Ketchikan- Another view of the airport- A little bird was our towel animal for the day- 8:30 in the evening as we head towards Juneau-

brunolvr Posted July 2, 2014 Author #65 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Sandy it looks like you had great Weather. Much better than last year on the Pearl. The Pearl is my favorite also. Yes we did, except for Juneau. It was rainy off and on there. And our excursion to Tracy Arm Fjord was pretty wet! :(
brunolvr Posted July 2, 2014 Author #66 Share Posted July 2, 2014 Day 4 - Juneau We were due to arrive in Juneau at 7AM and I was up very early that morning. We really didn’t have any plans for Juneau. If the weather was good, we were going to go up the Mt. Robert’s Tram. When we first arrived in Juneau, we could see the top of Mt. Roberts but by the time we had breakfast, it was all clouded over and it was raining. So we decided to stay on the ship and not get off in Juneau (we had been there only about 8 ½ months earlier). 3:35AM (yes I was up that early) Surprisingly light at 4:45AM 5:00AM and there's the Zaandam headed to Tracy Arm Fjord 6:00AM and the Radiance of the Seas is getting ready to dock in Juneau as we make our way slowly down Stephens Passage into Gastineau Channel
brunolvr Posted July 2, 2014 Author #67 Share Posted July 2, 2014 At 6:20AM we could see the top of Mt. Roberts and the trams starting to go up and down. And there's the Coral Princess following us into Gastineau Channel 7:00AM and we're docked at the AJ dock in Juneau If you look hard you can see the eagle. The first of many we saw. brunolvr Posted July 3, 2014 Author #69 Share Posted July 3, 2014 We went down to breakfast in Moderno's and we were their last customers close to 8:30AM. Husband had sausage & eggs cooked as ordered and delivered hot- I decided to try the steak & eggs -- also cooked as ordered and the steak was very good & tender- Empty Moderno's still looks like Cagney's to me--same chairs. Cleaning up the buffet area of Moderno's. I was surprised that they throw out any of the food leftover there. It seems like such a waste. Another view of Moderno's-
Hikini Posted July 3, 2014 #70 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Great pictures - love them all! We also have seen them throwing away the food at the breakfast buffet and it's a crying shame!! Made me feel sick to my stomach. But I suppose they have to due to some rules and regulations.
brunolvr Posted July 3, 2014 Author #71 Share Posted July 3, 2014 9:15AM and the clouds have covered Mt. Roberts- We went walking through the buffet which was mostly empty of passengers. Lots of food left in the Fresh Fruit Station- And in the Hot Food Station (we saw lots & lots of bacon leftover there) Empty Deck 7 near the Fyzz Lounge- Lots of goodies at "Carlo's Bake Shop"-

brunolvr Posted July 3, 2014 Author #73 Share Posted July 3, 2014 Did you try anything from Carlo's? No we didn't. We got our fill of sweets from all the "free" venues so didn't see the need to spend money for more.
