Parking alternatives in New Orleans?

Recommended Posts

We are going to be going on Carnival Dream next year and I just checked to see parking for a 7 day cruise is a steep $115, is there any parking alternatives in New Orleans? Like a park and ride? We have found some in Port Canaveral and Jacksonville which were our usual take off ports but not having luck finding any online for New Orleans, does anyone know if their is any?

Lots of hotels have snooze and cruise rates there. That's what we did 2 years ago. Much cheaper, and they will shuttle you to/from port.

Thanks guys, I looked into the hotel package places but most were rather steep for a night stay + parking & shuttle, especially since we require a 1 bedroom suite with our family set up. The Fulton rooftop sounds great and $8 a day is half the cost as to what its costs at port.

We also did the stay and cruise, but we stayed at the Holiday Inn New Orleans West Bank Tower in Gretna (Nice hotel by the way). We stayed there because it was cheap and it offered free parking during the cruise. We paid $20 for a taxi to the port, but at the time it was cheaper than hotels right next to the port. If you want some other options Google Park and cruise in New Orleans, there are many options to choose from you will just have to research prices and see what is best for you :). Hope you find a good deal! and have fun on the cruise.

We used Machu Picchu. We dropped the car off, they took us to our hotel and picked us up the next morning to go to the port, then picked us up after the cruise to get the car. I don't remember what we paid as it was a couple of years ago, but it was reasonable. I'd use them again.

Also, the $8 parking rate fills up fast. You need to book it now.(o as soon as it opens up for your time frame)

Thank you for the coupon code, and your right, every bit helps! That particular cruise isn't for another year and 3 months, so we're not going to book right now, probably will at the end of the year about 10 months from the cruise date, we have another cruise in Feb but thats out of Jacksonville, thanks for all the help everyone!

We parked at the Fulton Garage. Easy to find (people holding huge flags ushering cars into their garage.) We didn't make reservations, just showed up and paid (didn't get the rooftop, but an inside parking spot.

The garage is secure too, as I remember there was some car rental places that park their cars in there too.

One other point on the Fulton Street Garage parking is that you can book it for the night before your cruise. If you are staying at a downtown hotel the night prior, paying $10/night for covered parking ($8 for top deck) is a very good deal.

We were able to reserve our parking there for 8 nights (7 night cruise and the night prior) instead of paying parking at our hotel for one night. The check in procedures at the Fulton garage are unique but you get an Email explaining how to do it.

Another vote for Fulton Street! We parked there last year for our cruise and will definitely be parking there again! It's so convenient and the shuttles run regularly! We didn't have to wait going to the port nor coming back! We parked inside the garage and paid $10 per day. Great price considering the port gets $16!
