Boarding Separately?

We're planning to drop our bags at the dock, then take the rental car back. A buddy will drop us back off at the dock in his very compact car. It'll be almost 2 hours round trip for the drop off. Can I go through the check in process myself, and he can check in himself 2 hours later? Or do we have to go together?

Separate is fine. when you do the online checkin to get your express pass, you each have to do the process before either of you can print your express pass this way the express passes have all the appropriate info ready for each person to arrive separately (onboard billing and payment details for example).

No need to board together but make sure you don't go aboard with your friend's cartons if that's where his documents are. I've seen it happen a couple if times that a passenger boards with both passports and the second passenger is stuck until the passport can be found.
