Crowne Plaza Ft. Lauderdale?

What do you experts know about this property, located at 455 State Road 84? It appears to be pretty close to port. Is this location convenient to reasonably-priced restaurants and somewhere to pick up a 12-pack of pop?

It LOOKS nice -- At least from the pictures that I've seen.

Thanks -- I already know about 17th Street, having stayed at the Renaissance twice and Embassy Suites and Hyatt Place one time each. I found a really good rate on this particular hotel, which is why I asked about it. I see that Lester's Diner and Anthony's Coal Fire Pizza are pretty close.

It looks kind of far from Publix and the Harbor Shops. Is there a Walgreen's or CVS, or someplace nearby where I can pick up the aforementioned 12-pack of pop?

CVS is a half mile away on US1. Between CVS and the hotel are a couple bar and grill type restaurants (Italian & BBQ), a Pollo Tropical and a Taco Bell. Another quarter mile or so past CVS on SE 17 St begins the epicenter of shopping and dining nearest the port.

ETA: Don't know why I forgot about Lester's; used to eat there quite a lot. Just don't walk there alone, and be careful crossing the RR tracks at night.

We have stayed at this Hotel twice before and then taken a Taxi to our ship. It is close! Don't take their shuttles as the cab is cheaper and easier. We ate at Anthony's both times and enjoyed it very much! It is a easy short walk! Enjoy! Mark

I will, in fact, be by myself. Is it not a safe area?

It's fairly safe, just really busy. You're basically opposite the other entrance to the port..

The CVS isn't far, nor are the Harbor Shops..I'd cab it, or perhaps the hotel shuttle for the airport could take you....I wouldn't walk.....more for traffic reasons than safety...just pay attention and don't wander around late at night.

Anthony's Coal Fired pizza was awesome...it's a chain, but they do a make a good pie......I like how it gets little burnt bits here and there...yum.

We stayed 3 times at the Crowne Plaza and love it. Not much within walking distance (like others already mentioned - Anthony's), but we actually like their in-house restaurant (Kiki's) very much.

I would just take a cheap cab ride to CVS or Winn Dixie to get your soda. For all other incidentals - the hotel also have a small convenience store.
