Will we have enough time to meet flight?

Recommended Posts

Hi I was wondering if anyone can reassure us that we will have no problem meeting our 11:30 a.m. flight from London Heathrow. We will be docking in Southampton at 5:30 a.m. and will choose to handle our own luggage. The taxi is set to pick us up from dock at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday August 30th. We will be cruising with Celebrity on Eclipse. Now that the trip is getting closer we are starting to worry that we won't have enough time to make our flight.

Thanks kcherie

Hi, kcherie924, and welcome to CC!

If you can be off the ship and in the taxi at 7.30 am, the chances of real problems on a Saturday morning are fairly low. Traffic will be relatively light at that time on a Saturday morning, and it's more likely that it will be coming out of town rather than towards it. The chances are that you'd get to Heathrow sometime between 9.30 and 10.00, which still gives you a little extra margin in case anything goes wrong.

Transatlantic flights recommend a 3-hour check-in. (I'm assuming you're going transatlantic, you didn't say.) Security checks have just been enhanced as well. So if you can change it without incurring too many costs, I would.

As it is, you're relying on the ship being on time, the taxi being on time, the traffic being OK, and security being efficient. The chances are all those things will happen, but there's no certainty.

Thanks so much for the quick responses. I hoping I don't need to change so I'm going to email taxi for earlier pickup. Your right about relying on no unexpected delays and longer security checks. I seriously need to think about this. Thanks again everyone. Kcherie

If you haven't already done so, you will need to check what time you can realistically expect to be physically off the ship. The fact that the ship docks at 0530 does not mean that you can disembark at 0530.
