Looking for suggestions -- tour in Miami

We fly in and out of FLL and have booked the Embassy Suites for 2 nights pre-cruise, and 1 night post-cruise. As our return flight doesn't leave until 7:45 p.m., this gives us almost two extra days of warmth :D before heading back to the snow belt! We'd like to do a day trip/tour of Miami on debarkation day [after dumping our luggage at the hotel]. I haven't found much available except a day trip to Key West that is too long to fit in with our travel schedule and leaves at 6:20 a.m. so is too early for debarkation day. Any suggestions?

If you google you'll find things like the above. If days offered don't work maybe just arrange transportation to Miami and pick something up there. THere's a hop on hop off bus at Bayside Mall in Downtown Miami. Would you be willing to rent a car?

We did this company a few years ago. But op wants something from Fort L. Maybe they have one from there?

Actually, the OP states a tour of Miami after disembarkation; just the flights are in and out of FLL.

I interpreted and assumed... because they are "dropping bags off" at the Embassy Suites after disembarking ( and where they are staying two days precruise)they were at Port Everglades.

Nothing said about the port... other than the "clue" of staying at ES and the fact that she could only find the day trip to Key West which is the case from Ft. L . Lots more available when starting in Miami.

Yes, we sail from Port Everglades -- and our flights are through FLL. We are booked the post-cruise night at the Embassy Suites on 17th Street, although we could change this. We haven't spent any time in Miami so aren't too familiar with the area and thought a day tour would help us decide if we want to stay in Miami next time. We've got lots to do in Fort Lauderdale - just thought we'd do a bit of exploring....we'd really like to do something like

however, this tour only runs on Tuesday and our available day is Monday.

I assume you will not have a car? If not, then what you could do is take the tri-rail from Fort Lauderdale to Miami, then pick up the hop on / hop off bus in front of Bayside Marketplace. If this is what you would like to do, then we can help you with how to use the tri-rail system, as it is not a straight shot into downtown Miami; you would need to take some transfers, and it can get complicated.

FYI, here is the link to both the tri-rail system and the hop on / hop off bus (2 companies):

Maybe a good solution would be renting a car. If you are a Costco member, they offer some great discounts. I think there are some agencies near your hotel or you can rent at FLL. If you choose this, I suggest you head down to South Beach for the day. Once you park your car in one of the garages, you can basically cover most of South Beach by foot or rent a bicycle at one of the rental stations.

Many of the other highlights in mainland Miami (outside of South Beach) are spread out, so you would need a car, but trying to find parking, plus the expense of parking, may not be worth it.
