Family On A Budget, Could You Spare A Carnival Coupon Book?

Hi everybody!

I am a 1st time cruiser with a family of 5 on a budget. I hear there is a carnival coupon booklet that some of you might have on hand that you are not going to use. I heard there are a few coupons in there that if so, I would be interested in. Geez, I hate to ask but every little bit helps for us. Thank you all so much for wonderful posts, laughs and giggles too! You can e-mail me also.

*Most* of the "offers" in the coupon book are for things you can get anyway. Whoop-de-freakin-do. The photo coupon is about the only thing that's worth the paper it's printed on.

If you are a family on a budget, the coupon book will not help. A better plan is to avoid buying drinks and stick to iced tea and lemonade, resist the urge to play bingo and hang out in the casino for hours, and check out shore excursions on the internet before you go

Yogimax hit the nail on the head! Bingo is a colossal waste of money! The lemonade and fruit punch I found to be quite tasty...I actually mixed half and half. If you buy drinks go for the "drink of the day". A cruise does NOT have to be equal to the National Debt.

And I second what Bunkie has to say. The mix of iced tea and lemonade is pretty good. And... if you want free adult drinks, attend the captain's party and art auction (free champagne... just resist the urge to buy!)

Pretty much :p LOL!!! Those coupon books are useless, with the exception of the 4 free wallets when you buy an 8x10... I do use that one. The other items are a joke IMHO. If you want a "free souvenir glass", buy one drink of the day, you get to keep the cup. You can get them on eBay, you may want to check there.

I'll pass on the cup from ebay. I seem to recall someone was selling a couple from an RCI (or whatever they're called this week) cruise and didn't bother to wash them before taking a picutre to display on the auction.:rolleyes:

Well, looks like "they are not worth it" gets the unanimous vote! Oh well, maybe carnival will see that nobody cares about it and make one better next time.

P.S. Totally different subject, but, how can I tell what the weather looks like for the caribbean 4 weeks from now? Also, what is the chance it will "act" the way it looks?

I know it's difficult but try not to stress too much about the weather four weeks out. It's really totally unpredictable. Last year, our five day caribbean cruise was altered by a hurricane. The result... we enjoyed a seven day cruise, with no extra charge for the additional days! True, we didn't visit Ocho Rios, but got to see Cozumel instead. There's nothing you can do about the weather, so sit back and enjoy!

The weather is something you cant change--- so lets not even look.

Most times before I cruise the weather will show showers or thunder storms ALL week-long only to find when I get there it was beautiful.

Extremely hot, extremely humid, chance of thunderstorms daily.

There was nothing in the Carnival coupon book we would use, since we too are a family on a budget. If you are careful, you can avoid extra charges by doing what other posters said .. if you want drinks enjoy the Captain's party & free champagne at the art auction. We never gambled, played bingo, or purchased alcoholic drinks. The kids were thrilled to order lemonade or hot chocolate w/ whipped cream, both free in the dining room. Take advantage of the free "perks" like room service, that just cost a small tip and the delicacies in the dining room. We've actually taken trips with no sign an sail balance -- just the money we spend on tips. The coupon book requires you to spend money to save money (take golf lessons, and get an extra half hour free). That's not considered "savings" in my book.

One of the coupons is get 10% off a 2nd shore excursion... but you can do shore excursions yourself for a lot cheaper then the 10% savings.

 

another is free vest with a tux rental.

 

free 4 walles with a purchase of a 8 x 10 (which you should be buying anyways for a fabulous soverneir of your family vacation.
