Venice Taxi to Mestre

We are disembarking in Venice after an 11-night Celeb cruise in September. After we disembark we are staying one extra day to see Venice at our own pace and we have a hotel booked for the night in Mestre. We are looking for any recommendations on a private taxi company that could pick us up at the cruise terminal and take us to the hotel and then possibly have them pick us up the next morning to take us to the airport. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated.

You don't mention which Mestre hotel, but we have been staying at the Best Western Hotel Bologna. Whether you're staying there or at another hotel in Mestre, your hotel may be able to arrange transportation for you. I would check with them.

Enjoy your cruise...

We took the bus, included in our vaparetto passes. The bus was very easy, but we packed light, just one case and one shoulder tote each. But no reallifting or climbing to get from the ship to the hotel except for the short step onto and off the bus... like a rental car shuttle.

From the cruise ship terminal we walked the short distance to the people mover which is very luggage friendly. Then across the street to the vaparetto hub.. one person could stay with the luggage if you don't want to roll it there but it's only about 50 yards. The People Mover exit is at the bus stop and just across from the vaparetto hub so it's all together in one spot. I showed the vaparetto clerk my printed-out confirmation of our multi-day vaparetto tickets and they gave us passes with chips in them so that you only wave the pass at the sensor on either a bus or a vaparetto. It's all of 5 minutes to Mestre on the bus, they run very often, every few minutes. We stayed at the Hotel Montepiana on a side street around the corner form the train station, the bus stop was in front of the train station.

Loved Venice!! Enjoy, m--

We planned on taking a taxi when we got off the ship. There was a long line for taxis. I started asking others in line if they were going to the same hotel we were. I gathered several other couples and when the first of us was at the front of the line, they asked for a van for whatever # of couples we had and off we went. Saved a little time and $'s.

Great suggestion. Thanks.
