cookieeater Posted July 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Myself - 50, hubby - 53 and son -17 Just an amazing cruise. First I suggest you take all the comments with a grain of salt. Everyone has a different prespective of the perfect cruise. Comments that staff were impolite ... totally not true. Guests were inconsiderate and rude ... totally not true. Elevators are forward and aft of ship ... can get crowded at peak times, so we walked :) Casino -- I expected to see a smoke cloud. It was fine, BTW, I do not smoke. Entertainment: Cirque Show -- food excellent. Show could have been a little shorter, stage is small, can get a bit boring, some acts were the same Rock of Ages ... superb. Not appropriate for all ages. Did see quite a few of the elderly leave during the show. Spice H2O -- Friday night sail away from Bermuda Fireworks, excellent. be sure to arrive early, seats are limited. The Bar area gets very crowded. Food: La Cucina only okay, would not do it again. Cagneys, better than ok, but on the fence if I would do it again Modernos, definitely would eat there again Cafe, good selection, although the salad bar could have more offerings O'Sheehans, great chicken tenders, sandwiches Manhattan Room, Standard cruise dining room service and menu Tappenyaki -- very good For those of you that are staying in the Haven, the restaurant is excellent. Haven Amenitites: Lounge -- Very nice, excellent service Restaurant -- excellent Pool -- small, but not an inconvience to us. We loved Deck 16 ... ample lounge chairs and umbrellas, it was quite quiet. Offerings of fruit, sorbet, cold towels all day, wonderful wait staff! Cabin -- stayed in the Penhouse Aft Cabin. Balcony is quite large, room was lovely. Although it is a walk to the Haven, but we didn't mind. Bermuda: Kayak tour was fun, level very easy! Husband played golf -- loved the course, booked through NCL Horseshoe Bay Beach, took a van $7 pp each way. Beach was not crowded on the last day. Took the ferry to Hamilton $8 pp r/t. If you prefer, you can purchase a one-day pass for $15, unlimited bus/ferry rides
robinsra Posted July 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Thanks for the review. Do you know if they changed the Cirque show from 5:45 to 5:15 the first night? Thanks

MATHA531 Posted July 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I was on that cruise and did the Friday night Jungle show which was held only once (it was sail away from Bermuda day and fireworks night) and I could only compare it with the cirque de soleil show I saw on the Epic. The food indeed was excellent. My complaint, perhaps a nitpick, was as I remember although I could be wrong, on the Epic, they served the meal, at least the appetizer and main dish before the show started. Here the show started and then during the show, they served the food. A tad hard to eat and concentrate on the show, at least in my opinion. Also interesting and again probably another nitpick. On the television, they kept playing over and over a documentary about the building of the ship (and it was excellent, I actually watch the whole thing and enjoyed it). The fireworks on the maiden voyage were accompanied by some music and Julie, the cruise director, gave some commentary or so it seemed. The fireworks went off at 2245 on Friday, and you have to make sure you are in an open deck and be on the left side of the ship. It was nothing special but then again it was different. Interestingly from where I stood, on the 16th floor outside H2O spice, I could see another ship off to our side and just before the fireworks started, it manuvered into a better position to view the Breakaway's fireworks. I'm not sure which ship it was but I found that funny. It really was a very very good cruise and despite the fact it was sold out, for the most part, never felt crowded on the lifts with the one exception of just after the life board drill when it seemed the whole ship wanted to crowd into lifts to get to various places to see the sail away from NY and I want to tell you something. If youve ever been on a cruise out of NYC, that sail away passing by Lady Liberty and then under the Verazano Bridge is really something and a highlight on the trip as you don't want to get up at 0530 on the last day to see these sites in reverse (or maybe you do). cookieeater Posted July 15, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Robin, so agree with you that we are booking it again for next year. Love the 3-day itinerary in Bermuda. It's too bad it couldn't be 4 days in Bermuda!

The Haven was great and all of Cookieeaters comments were spot on. Add that LeBistro was excellent as well as Wasabi (sushi) and the Noodle Bar were also top notch! Sushi was as good as what I've gotten at some sushi bars in NYC at a much cheaper price.
