I will on a cruise commencing in Hong Kong on a Celebrity Liner in November. What is the best way to get from the airport to the cruise liner, a we only arrive in HK at 11pm.

Can anyone recommend a tour guide for Hong Kong, Bankok and Singapore.

Thank You

You get to HK at 11 PM. When can you board your ship? Do you want a hotel for a night? The easiest way from the airport is hi speed direct rail fro the airport to Kowloon or Central on the Island and a taxi from there.

Yes we used the taxi/train in HK but after our cruise not before ( because we sailed from Singapore ).

We flew British Airways and you can check your luggage in at the train station and then do more sightseeing while your luggage is sent to the airport. It was a very good train service.

This of course doesn't help you on your arrival, but it might help someone else :o

The "World" will be anchored at Ocean Terminal in TST from 11/7 thru 11/14. The Celebrity Millennium will arrive Sat. 11/8 @ 0700 at the new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal & depart Mon 11/10 @ 2000, where public transportation, including taxis availability, has been well documented with cruise passengers waiting upwards of one (1) hour in long taxi queues.

FYI - A Green line PMB (Public-Mini-Bus) with seating for 16 pax has been added to provide shuttle service to the nearby MTR subway train station in Kowloon Bay, for $5 HKD (about 65 cents USD) which then connect throughout the area's subway, railway & lightrail systems in the outlying satellite towns, and the vast network of buses. It isn't exactly luggage friendly unless you are traveling with carryons & small backpacks only, unless the dedicated Cityflyer Airporter bus & AE trains.

For 2 or 3 pax sharing the cost, if going straight from the airport to board the ship (generally, most visitors clear immigration & customs after picking up their luggage & are out of the airport in about 1 hour after wheels down) and assumed flight is on time/early - I recommend taking a taxi into town - as the last Airport Express Train to either the Kowloon or Hong Kong Station's last run is a little past midnight and is $100 HKD p/p (less with a group discount of 2 or more) Taxi ride to the new Kai Tak Cruise Terminal shouldn't be more than $400 HKD including a bridge tolls + 10% tips, or about $50 USD ($55 w. tips) in about 45 minutes in the late evening - based on metered rate, door-to-door. Otherwise, taking a taxi in-town from the (not really) the nearest AET station in Kowloon to Kai Tak would cost about $100 HKD + the AET fares.

There are really no good or decent 3 stars + hotels for tourist "near" this new cruise terminal, as it is in an industrial & residential area. The closest hotel is the Regal Kai Tak (formerly, Airport) Hotel in Kowloon City, 10 to 15 minutes away with decent rooms for a 1 night stay, and local eateries nearby, but not walking distance to popular tourist sites in TST or Central.

HKG is very tourist-friendly as a whole and signage is bilingual in Chinese/English in most places, and basic English can be understood & spoken in many visitor locations, especially by the younger generation - and with an excellent transportation system & relatively low crime and highly visible police force that patrol & walk the streets - it is very, very EASY to plan a DIY tour on your own, armed with some basic maps and/or a smartphone with maps & POI stored. Prepaid GSM sim card with 4G data plan can be easily setup for as little as $20 USD that will be enough for 3 to 7 days. Google the Hong Kong Tourism Board & other official HK government websites as they have vast bilingual info for use to plan ahead.

If OP is arriving early to sightsee, there is no reason to book a "nearby" hotel - as it would be relatively easy to hail a taxi on the the date of sailing to go to the pier, for a very reasonable fare (by USA standards, of course.) (All these, explains, the reasons for the higher than usual hotel rates in November for HKG, when the demand is usually lower than the month of October.)
