TravelKnitter Posted July 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2014 My husband and I have hired a car to take us from London to Dover on a Saturday in August. We'd like to take in as much of London as possible that Saturday. What would be the best time to leave London to avoid the heaviest traffic? Thank you. :)

Thank you. :) Around 9am to 2pm is the worst time to be leaving central London on a summer Saturday. After that should be fine. Saturday 23rd August is during a long holiday weekend - factories & offices closed on the Monday. But shouldn't make any difference if you make that late start on the Saturday. For sight-seeing in central London a car is a hindrance, even on a Saturday. If your hotel doesn't have parking, best collect the car when you're ready to leave the big bad city. Rare insidecabin Posted July 18, 2014 #4 Share Posted July 18, 2014 depends where you are staying/picking up the car which will be the best way out to the motorway.
