NeenafromPA Posted July 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2014 We are traveling to Canada/New England on Royal Caribbean in September. What is the best lighthouse tour to take? I was considering the one in Bar Harbor.
Giantfan13 Posted July 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2014 Maybe some one from the immediate area could suggest a lighthouse tour in Bar Harbor, because I am definitely not familiar with one. Most people going to Bar Harbor want to go to Acadia Nat Park, or wander about this wonderful port. If the tide is out you can walk along what was the ocean floor, to Bar Island, very interesting stroll. When the tide is in, it is under 30 feet of water If you want lighthouses, stop in Portland where you will find a whole lot more. marys350 Posted July 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2014 We enjoyed our Land and Sea combination tour through Portland Discovery Tours. It included a trolley tour and a cruise and featured a number of lighthouses. Here is a link to their website: http://www.portlanddiscovery.com Let me know if you have any questions. nelights Posted August 1, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 1, 2014 If you're interested in a lighthouse tour on land via minivan, you might consider this - http://www.newenglandlighthousetours.com
bungee Posted August 1, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 1, 2014 If the lighthouse tour the cruise line is offering in Bar Harbor catches your eye, I would seriously consider signing up for it through the cruise line. We were on a driving vacation in Maine two years ago and the Bar Harbor lighthouse cruise was sold out due to a ship being in port.
Rare 1025cruise Posted August 1, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 1, 2014 If you're interested in a lighthouse tour on land via minivan, you might consider this - http://www.newenglandlighthousetours.com I didn't know any of the cruise ships docked in Portsmouth New Hampshire. Do you know if they will provide transportation from Portland or Boston?
