pearose Posted July 20, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Last time we sailed at Galveston we were lucky enough to have a room at the Harbor House and were right there when the ship came in. This time, we're about 3 miles away on the Seawall at LaQuinta. But we still want to get up early and be on the pier to watch the ship when it comes in. Does anyone know of a place close to the pier, that you can park for free for a little bit? I know some of you probably think this is taking it too far. But after watching it on the cruise cams all the time, for me, there's nothing more exciting than being there in person, to see it dock knowing that you're the next to be on it! Galveston Cruiser Posted July 20, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) There are no parking charges on Sunday. You can park at the end of 20th St. by the Ocean Star Offshore Drilling Rig/Joe's Crab Shack. The huge pier is a block long. ssb Posted July 20, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2014 (edited) Parking downtown Galveston is free on Sunday . The parking at the restaurants on port however still have a charge, but AFTER the first three hours free . The attractions and restaurants validate your ticket for the free three hours. And there is parking fee on Seawall during day 7 days a week. Edited July 20, 2014 by ssb
pearose Posted July 20, 2014 Author #4 Share Posted July 20, 2014 Thanks so much! That helps! Last time we didn't have to worry about it, we stayed at the Harbor House, but they are booked up this time. :(
