For all the Divina whingers

It seems like you either love the Divina or you hate her but I am really starting to think that those who having nothing but negative to say are really those types of folks who complain about EVERYTHING. Now I will be honest and say I am yet to do our trip on the Divina but am basing this opinion of simple math. Here is why:

Lets take two adults and put them up in a 5 star hotel for a week. The cost, lets say $1500 for the week. Lets now through in a buffet breakfast for 2 for 7 days...maybe another $200-$250. Add on to this a sit down three course meal in a "average" restaurant for 2 for 7 days and we have another $400-$500. Again we can safely say the same for dinner. Throw in a couple of shows and some snacks and you could easily add another $300 or $400.

By my calculations for such a holiday you would be looking at a MINIMUM of $2500 for a couple for 7 days.

The current ridiculous prices for the Divina for 2 people in a balcony cabin would come in at UNDER $1000 and for this you get all the above included. Sure it may not be gourmet food, the bacon may be raw (heaven forbid) and the dinner service may extend for 2 hours but geez...HELLO. It does not take Einstein to work this one out.

Nowhere else will you get such an all inclusive for anywhere neat the same price. If you want to be waited on hand and foot and have someone bow to your every whim then go stay in some fancy resort. There is a saying which I am sure you all know. "You pay for what you get". However it would seem that in the case of the Divina you are getting far more than what you are paying.

I'm not sure there is a five star hotel on the planet where you can stay for only $1500 a week, so that definitely helps your argument. But if you're equating the balcony cabins to a 5 star hotel experience you'd be way off. We stayed in the Yacht Club (YC2) and even that would be a 4 star at best. It is, though, a terrific experience with a few glitches and those are not enough to spoil any vacation of mine!

Aza1972,,I have to agree with you. We've taken quite a few weekend trips over to Fort Lauderdale and have stayed at the Ritz Carlton on Fort Lauderdale Beach(4 star) each time. Room and parking usually runs a little over $1,000.00 a night, around $1300.00 a night to stay in the Club Level. We are staying in a YC3 suite and paid a little over $600.00 a night. Once you factor in the all inclusive drinks, 3 gourmet meals minimum per day, and the entertainment,,we feel we get great value for our money, and The Port Of Miami is only an extra half hour drive for us!!!:D

I live in the Heart of NYC. A day on the Divina is less than the cost of my rent alone. I'm not gonna whing (never heard this term before...sorry if I use it incorrectly).

As long as the ship has cold water, a buffet (we like to eat early) and a casino...I 'll be a happy camper.

I completely agree with you Aza! I will be sailing Divina first time next month and I still am going in with a good attitude and am extremely excited. I have been on only older carnival ships and I still had a great time. It's all what you make of it. The goal is to relax and some people just can't do that. I will say I've had a few hiccups with the booking process of Divina.. BUT we have made numerous changes to our booking and MSC has been great about it. So far so good. :)
