Karabi --Dawn concierge

There's a recent thread from someone just back from Dawn that called her gracious, professional, and genuine. We sailed on Dawn 7/25 and didn't have much interaction with her; we were pretty low need people, but she checked in with us a few times to make sure everything was taken care of. She efficiently handled boarding, matching us up with butlers who escorted us to our cabins to drop hand luggage and then to Cagney's. She ran the brief disembarkation talk on Thursday and got us off the ship quickly on Friday morning.

I sailed the Dawn for my 12th time on July 11 2014 .

I was looking for-way to meeting John D Sousa as I wad heard he was one of the best of all NCL concierge .

I went to the concierge lounge a couple of times only to find it empty . The third morning that I went there once again to an empty desk I asked at Cagneys maitre D' stand " Where is the concierge guy " .

At this point one of the young ladys at the stand said " I'M the concierge " never to look up or ask what I wanted .

After waiting for a bit I looked at my wife shook my head and left with no more from her. I was very disappointed.

Ouch! Not what I want to hear. Maybe she was new as a concierge at that time and still learning the ropes?

Anyhow, I am not the kind to let others ruin my vacation. No cleaning and cooking for a week!! :D:D

Happy cruising.

We love the crew on Dawn . I found this minor incident rare . Although I did want to touch base with John .

Have a fun cruise . :)

Wishing smooth sea and warm breezes to ya !!

My wife and I sailed on the Jade with Karabi as our Haven concierge. I think "gracious, professional, and genuine" is an excellent description. We aren't big users of concierge services and for the most part have been happy with all of our NCL concierges to date - Carlos, Ruth, and Omar.

Agree 100% - Had Karabi on our 11 day med last year and she was fantastic.

Does anyone know if she is still going to be concierge in Jan? Or, is she just filling in for someone else? Im going to have my DD and SIL and family on this cruise for their first cruise and want them to see what I was talking about with the pampering....:D

It was only my first time in a suite and while the concierge certainly sets the tone for the suite service that the butlers provide, I was much more of the impression that our butler Jennifer and cabin steward Xavereito (sp) did the pampering. They were truly excellent in anticipating needs and their daily friendliness. For long time suite cruisers, would that be your impression also? Or should people expect more from the concierge?

OK, don't flame me, but consider the possibility that if you really said what you quoted above, that she was offended you assumed only a man could rise to that position, you then stood there but didnt apologize for your gender biased question, and she then just ignored you. Not saying it would be correct to do that, but frankly, if I was in the position and I heard you say that you wanted to see the "guy" but you never apologized when you realized a woman was the 'guy", I probably would have ignored you too.....

You are correct that I should not have said that you assumed anything. I apologize. What I should have said is that your comment could have been interpreted by a woman as gender biased, whether or not that is what you intended.

Hello everyone!

Just wondering if there is any feedback or opinion of Karabi, the current concierge on Dawn?

Sailing in less than 2 weeks..can't wait! !

We sailed in the GV on 6/20 and we found Karabi to be absolutely fantastic. On our last trip in a GV, we had relied far more on our butler to make our wishes come true than our concierge (though we thought that concierge was very good as well), but this time, the Concierge did a lot of arranging for us. She made dinner reservations for our larger group of 15 virtually every night. Additionally, she arranged every detail of a private BBQ in our courtyard on my step-fathers birthday- it was amazing from start to finish. She also arranged a photo session in our suite so that we could have group portraits taken there instead of in the atrium, etc. In all instances, she got us the times and dates that we asked for with no problems. She also had Teppanaki open for our group for lunch on a sea day- incredible! If you have a wish, I'm confident Karabi can grant it. Happy Sailing!

Were you in a suite on this sailing? If not, is the Dawn one of the ships that doesn't offer the concierge to Platinum level cruisers? I've read that this is the case on the Gem - that there is no concierge contact information in your Platinum latitudes packet.

To the OP, I think you will like Karabi. She was our concierge on the Jade in March and she was very responsive and personable.

As a platinum member who will be on the dawn balcony in 10 days I am now also wondering about the level of concierge service? Were you platinum or does anyone have any experience?

Yes . For Concierge service dial 7070 from any ship phone . :)

We sailed with Karabi on the Jade last year. We thought she was great. She was charming and got everything taken care of for us - reservations at specialty restaurants and MDRs for a large group at peak times, getting our group off the ship quickly so we could meet our privately arranged tours as early as possible in the various ports, etc. Have fun!
