JoKen1 Posted August 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2014 So if you have an OBC on your cabin that you feel will be more then enough for what you will spend, do you have to still put a deposit down of cash or credit card? We prepaid our tips, don't drink, won't be going to the casino and have no plans on shopping in the gift shop or buying the photos. We are just going on a 4 night cruise and will do all shopping off the ship (if we shop at all). I have a great camera and take all photos myself so we won't buy the ones they take. Not trying to be cheap, but there are no excursions on this trip that we want to take either. Been there to many times to bother going again. Thanks! k2excursion Posted August 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2014 If you set it up as a cash account, you won't need to put anything down. They do highly recommend that you do put something down when you check in, but that's just because most people are not in your position. Just explain your position when you're checking in at the terminal. Once your OBC posts to your on-board account, nobody will be looking for you to come to guest services to put down some cash. If you put down a credit card, no worries at all. They will still run the card when you check in, but nothing would be charged until the end of the cruise, and only if you go over your OBC amount. If you don't, nothing is ever charged.

snc_cam Posted August 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2014 You can remove the prepaid tips and have it paid out of your OBC. That is mostly what I use the OBC for.

We have lots of OBC and were told that it was use it or lose it. Some people talk about pulling out cash at kiosks, charging the amount to their account. I'm not sure how that works. I've not done that before. I have used the slot machines in the casino. You charge a certain amount to your sail & sign account (enough to cover the excess money there as a result of OBC), & play however many hands on the slot machine that you want. You could just play a couple if you want. Then cash out your players club account on the machine, then go to the cashier and request your cash. If you haven't played anything on the machine, then the cashier will probably know what you're doing. They'll give you the cash, but they may lock your account to not let you do that again on that cruise. So be sure to charge enough to cover it all before you go to get the cash. Carnival_Brides Posted September 8, 2014 #11 Share Posted September 8, 2014 ES OBC is refundable, but other types like Cruise Cash aren't. We tend to check out in the Casino with our non-refundable OBC to ensure we get it. We had more OBC than we were going to spend last November, we just set up a cash account and never put cash on it. JoKen1 Posted September 9, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted September 9, 2014 The day after we got on board I went to ask about this and they allowed me to pull it out. They gave me the cash with no problems. I left some on my account, just in case we purchased anything. We ended up leaving about $20 on the books. Wanted to see if they really send a check for the amount left on there like they said they would. However, if you have $5.00 or more, they won't send it to you. They claim they donate to charity. Personally I think that is wrong to do without your permission but I guess since they tell you that's what they are going to do it's up to you make sure you get all money out if you really want it. So far we have not received a check for the amount still on the account. We got off the ship on the 21st of Aug so it's still pretty early. NOSaints1 Posted September 9, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 9, 2014 Do you have to leave a credit card or can you just put Cash as your deposit, as last year we used out credit card and the hold was on there for the whole cruise?
