JoKen1 Posted August 13, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Taking my girl scout troop on a cruise and was wondering what to tell them about how much to tip for room service. Can it be charged to the room or do they have to pay that in cash only?
CRU1Z1N Posted August 13, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Can only be given in cash. We usually tip about $2-3 depending on what we order. Some give $1 per item ordered. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
springs741 Posted August 13, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 13, 2014 It can be charged to the room/S&S card. Tips for room service are up to each person. I tip $2 for a pot of coffee in the morning and $5 for a couple of sandwiches and yummy dessert. I hope others will chime in so I know if I am being fair. OCruisers Posted August 13, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 13, 2014 A tip is not required but most do. It can be either in cash (preferred) or charged to the cabin. Most people tip $1 - $3 unless they are ordering lots of food. ;)
tkportersat Posted August 13, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 13, 2014 We usually only use Room service for morning coffee and pastries and we tip $2.
nwcruiselover Posted August 13, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 13, 2014 We usually use room service just for continental breakfast on port days. We tip $2.00 for each person.
serene56 Posted August 13, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 13, 2014 I think 5.00 is too much. They person is only delivering it. We tip 1-2.00 depending on what we ordered. You should tip in cash because you will have different delivery people. cash is instant. But the girls will probably opt for pizza--- not available for room service. nor is the soda card good for room service
kelkel2 Posted August 13, 2014 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2014 I agree with the $1-2. I don't think $5 is really needed unless you are a large family and are ordering a ton of food. Are you really able to tip on the sign an sail card? I always brought a bunch of $1's for this purpose but someone above muse said you could put it on your card. I guess I've never noticed this. Can anyone confirm?

Can anyone confirm? Last week on the Pride we had to sign a receipt for every room service order, even if there was no charge ($0.00) which gives you the option of writing in a tip. I wrote in a tip one time because it came really fast and my ones were in the safe. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app

feedmytummy Posted August 14, 2014 #13 Share Posted August 14, 2014 Yes, you can charge the tip to your S&S card. This is great information... I had no idea! I'm assuming it's this way on all ships? Also, do you know if the tip will go directly to the person who delivered? Thanks.

serene56 Posted August 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted August 14, 2014 (edited) Yes thank you!! I can't recall ever getting a receipt. Although maybe I did? Who knows? It was early.... for room service you ALWAYS need to sign your room service menu: it is what it is-- no substitions you will not find bacon and eggs etc http://www.zydecocruiser.net/menus/roomService.htm Edited August 14, 2014 by serene56
