JPR61 Posted September 1, 2014 #403 Share Posted September 1, 2014 JPR61,,,The experience is everything everyone says it is and then some. Loved waking up in the morning and having our local newspaper hanging on the door handle in a little Yacht Club bag,,having our mini bar restocked,,2,,3,sometimes 4 times a day with our requested beverages. I wasn't allowed to bring my own Caffe Mochiatto to my stateroom,,a butler was waiting to carry it for me. Even after you disembark the ship,,all Yacht Club luggage is pulled off the baggage belts and set aside for you in a special area, and a porter is there to help you get through customs with it. These small details are why we love the Yacht Club so much,,besides the incredible food and service of course!!:D Sound great Mike. As a good Scot, I'll see if I can keep up with the minibar being restocked. Not long now - can't wait. Leaving on Thursday, staying in miami to recharge before we board :) :)
JPR61 Posted September 1, 2014 #404 Share Posted September 1, 2014 Once there, you will see why we are so enthusiastic about the experience and will want to share it with future YC'ers. Thanks cruisergal. Packed and good to go ;) ;)
Rare Cruisergal1208 Posted September 1, 2014 #405 Share Posted September 1, 2014 (edited) Thanks cruisergal. Packed and good to go ;) ;) JPR61, Have a fabulous journey. I wanted to share a little tale with you. Back in June, 2008, we were on a cruise that took us to Scotland. On one of the tours, we met Hugh G. Allison, author of Culloden Tales, Stories from Scotland's Most Famous Battlefield. I asked him if my mother's family, Hardy, could have come from Scotland and he said yes, from the Clan Chattan. He signed a copy of his book and I treasure it. Safe travels! Will try to watch your sail away on the port cam. Jean Sure,,,I can't comment on the Western part of your itinerary,,we've never been to Cozumel, or Jamaica. St. Maarten,,I would highly suggest Bernards Tours: http://www.bernardstours.com We had a great time back in March when we first went to St. Maarten with them. Excellent,,Excellent Tour!! San Juan,,,maybe El Morro, San Cristobal, Bacardi Factory, Rainforest, Zip Lining. You have many options there, just choose something you think you and your family would like. Great Stirrup Cay,,,you'll definitely want to look into reserving a cabana. The beaches are packed and it will be excruciatingly hot in either a lounger or clam shell. They have the best cakes. We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries in the Le Muse.

Mikesa1721 Posted September 2, 2014 Author #419 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Mike, did you notice any car rentals in the port area if St. marten and any idea of the cost There is Sharon: http://portcars.com,,,be careful,,on our way back from Maho Beach, a woman who hitched a ride back to the port with us had told us that she rented a jeep from there and it broke down on her. She lost half her day dealing with a broken down car and the rental company.

I've travelled extensively, but the view of that castle and the welcoming feel of that town remains with me 25 years later. Mikesa1721 Posted September 2, 2014 Author #422 Share Posted September 2, 2014 I forgot where I left off here??? Ok,,,I think I remember,,,Walking past the jacuzzi's and sky light towards the starboard side of the ship you will come to the One Bar, just past the glass wall: [/img] [/img]
Mikesa1721 Posted September 2, 2014 Author #423 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Walking past the One Bar and to your right is an ice-cream machine. While we were onboard,,only the vanilla dispenser was working,,I was told that they had fixed the machine so, chocolate, vanilla, and the combination dispensers are now all functioning: The ice cream is only available between certain hours, I believe 2-5pm. Mikesa1721 Posted September 2, 2014 Author #424 Share Posted September 2, 2014 Walking past this point will lead you to a glass wall with a door which is magnetically locked. There is a push button on the inside and a card swiper on the outside of the door. The door needed a good push to get it to open, I'm wondering if the heavy rains we experienced had something to do with this because it worked fine before then. You will also see the retractable roof of Le' Sirene from here. Walking through the glass door will take you to a stairway which leads to deck 15 just above the Aqua Park. Mikesa1721 Posted September 2, 2014 Author #425 Share Posted September 2, 2014 (edited) At the aft section of the Yacht Club One Pool area,,there is a set of double doors, both on the port and starboard side of the ship. These doors lead into an elevator vestibule. We used this elevator to go back down to deck 16, but we were never able to select deck 18 when trying to use this same elevator to get back up the The One Pool. I have no explanation as to why this is so. [/img] Edited September 2, 2014 by Mikesa1721
