Actually the boat show is the LAST weekend.....27th, 28th, 29th and 30th, however we were there last year and a lot of folks come in the week before.

You may want to call the TropiRock motel. I haven't stayed there but have had some friends who did and loved it. It is a small motel that has been renovated. I have talked to the owner several times and he seems very nice and accomodating. Check out http://www.tropirock.com. The man I have talked to is Mick.....since you have such a large group he may be able to work out some good prices for you. I thought he was very nice to deal with when I called him for some friends of mine who needed a place for an "in a hurry" honeymoon!!

Hi,:) I stayed at TropiRock 2 years ago. It is a fun and funky little place 2 blocks from the beach. It is more like a European Pension or Boutique motel. I loved it:D

If your in-laws want "name brand" you might want to look for something else. This is owned by a husband and wife. They do a wonderful job but I won't tell you it is a 5***** but at that time I wasn't looking for anything fancy and It was just me as well. You have 11 you need to find a place for? There are plenty of places but I have no idea about the rates.

Hi Amy, I haven't stayed anywhere except hotels along 17th Street. (besides Tropirock).

You might try a search for that one and see what comes up. Also, TripAdvisor is good for getting reviews on places.

Good luck:)

Thanks I just wish Amerisuites had better reviews and the HI express had vacancy.....

We are torn...we could also stay in Miami and have a limo pick us up at the FLL airport....

Any other reviews would be great...

We stayed at the Comfort Suites/Stirling Rd last time it was just o.k. it just seemed old and we to taxi to a restaurant...

Would Miami be better?

thanks!

Since you're sailing from Miami you may want to try the downtown Miami hotels...

My favorite is the JW Marriott, VERY nice hotel that has great AAA rates if you're a member... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miajw

Intercontinental is also very nice, and you can easily walk to Bayside Marketplace from there... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ic/1/en/hd/miaha?irs=null

Hyatt Regency... http://miamiregency.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml

Biscayne Bay Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/miabb

A couple of less expensive downtown options are the downtown Marriott Courtyard... http://www.miamicourtyard.com/

And the Holiday Inn Bayside, directly across the street from Bayside Marketplace. It's a very popular hotel among budget minded cruisers, but is an older hotel with very mixed reviews... http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/hi/1/en/hd/miabb

If you're not familiar with Bayside Marketplace, it's a very popular open air mall in downtown Miami, and a nice place to have dinner and spend some time the night before your cruise if you're staying in downtown Miami... http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/

We are torn where to stay. We have 5 kids in our group youngest is 6 and we thought that they might be tired after the flight is why we thought of FLL...but we would really like a hotel that includes breakfast. Walking distance for dinner too.

The Miami Courtyard was booked

Thanks so much for your help...If you have any other suggestions that would be great!

Well I think the "includes breakfast" may be hard, and not all have shuttles and some that do are either planning on eliminating them or charging for them.

These are the other SE 17th Street hotels in Fort Lauderdale. Since you're already aware of AmeriSuites and the Holiday Inn Express I won't list them. They're less than 10 minutes from the airport and you can easily and safely walk to a large number of restaurants (as well as get anything else you may want) from any of them...

Renaissance... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLBR

Embassy Suites... http://www.embassysuites.com/en/es/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLSOES

Marina Marriott... http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/FLLFL
