Hey guys! I have a carnival gift card for my cruise tomorrow. I was wondering if there's a way to get whatever I don't use back in cash at the end of the cruise? Has anyone tried cashing out in the casino or do they put a check under your door? Thanks so much!!

There's loads of info about the gift cards on Carnival's website. From what I understand, you don't get cash back. You get a new card for the balance. I have only used my new eGift cards to pay on my balance, not for my onboard account. I'll do that in November.

From what I understand, you get what is remaining on another gift card. Nobody receives checks onboard anymore. Those that have money coming back to them either have to cash out at Guest Services or Kiosks or they will receive a check in the mail in a couple of weeks. I think your best bet for cash is using the casino slot machines. That is what I intend to do on my November cruise when I put a gift card on my S&S account.

as long as it is the GIFT CARD and not the CRUISE CASH (from the fun shops), you will get the money back. It says in the Gift card FAQ that you will get another gift card with the balance reaming on it.

Now if it is the Cruise cash that is non refundable.

I would never buy the cruise cash because of this. The gift card is so much better.

Can you use a gift card online to purchase towards a cruise? I have $100 gift card but don't see anywhere I can pay the money towards my cruise online. I guess I have to call Carnival?

If you go to carnival.com and click on manage. login then click on cruise details on the right. Then click on my billing it should be there.

If you booked with a TA you have to give the number to the TA for them to do it. It will not show up for you to do it in the my billing place.

Just off the Freedom, this is what I did,

Went to guest services on 1st day and had them put the entire remaining balance of the gift card (about $190.18) to fund my sail and sign card (no cash, no credit card). My gratuities, purchases, etc was paid for this way.

I didn't spend the entire amount so on last full day I went to guest services and they gave me the amount that was left on sail and sign in cash (about $59.35).

So just like me if you apply the entire amount of the gift card balance to your sail and sign card, then you can cash out at guest services and get any remaining cash back. No need for them to apply it to another gift card.

I had to call Carnival to apply my gift cards to balance since the gift cards did not cover the entire amount. Once on the phone I was able to apply 4 gift cards no problem.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to load my remaining balance on to a slot machine and try to cash out on the last night.

I tried to do this 1st but it asked me for a pin, etc. which I didn't know I had to create beforehand at the Kiosk or whatever, so getting confused I just went to guest services. Much easier.

This is great advice, thanks!

I take mine to guest services and ask them to put the amount that is on the card on my account.

If there was any money left in the account, which there always is, they mail me a check. I depot that check and purchase another Carnival gift card. That way the money stays in the cruise account.
