We are due to finish our October cruise in Fort Lauderdale at 07.00 and fly back to JFK (and on the London) at 15.00. Can anyone recommend some trips or sights to see in this time as we'd rather spend time in the FL area than in JFK

Top recommendation: take the water taxi (http://www.watertaxi.com). You can break up the trip by disembarking at Las Olas for a bit of shopping and lunch.

You might consider an excursion booked with your cruiseline that will drop you at the airport after completion...ot renting a car yourself...However just remember even though your ship arrives at 7:00am no guarantee you will get off that early...so with a 3:00pm departure flight you may not have as much time as you assume...One excursion you might enjoy is one that includes an airboat everglades tour. Enjoy !!

If time permits, I'd highly recommend an Everglades airboat ride - Quinticentially Florida - nothing like seeing 12-foot alligators close up and personal. :eek:
