When looking at the itinerary the port listing for embarkation is New York(Brooklyn/Manhattan). So it is a bit confusing!! How do I decide where to stay the evening before and not incur a huge taxi fare from hotel to pier?

I realize it just says NY etc......

What I am saying is, does the cruise start and end in NY?

You will know in plenty of time where the ship is docking.

The cruise begins and ends in NY. Thank you for your replies.

In general, if a Princess ship is homeported in New York, then she will berth at the Red Hook pier. On occasion, if the Queen Mary 2 is in town, then the Princess ship will be bumped to Manhattan.

Both Brooklyn and Manhattan bureaus are part of NYC. The Bronx, Queens and Staten Island too. (Where's Frank Sinatra when you need him?)

My cruise sailed from Red Hook. Had a slight problem. My cabbie didn't know the way. had to stop and ask for directions.

here's some good info:

ooohps: according to that link the Queen Mary AND our Royal Princess will depart on 27th September!

I m a bit confused now. Can Red Hook handle those 2 ships the same time?

I checked with my friend at Princess. Queen Mary 2 will be sailing from Manhattan on 9/27 and Royal Princess from Red Hook.

Checking the NY Cruise Terminals website (http://www.nycruise.com/schedule/) you depart from Red Hook and the Queen Mary departs from Manhattan.

9/27/2014 Manhattan Queen Mary 2 Transatlantic 9/27/2014 Brooklyn Royal Princess Canada New England
