DavyB Posted August 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 28, 2014 I've taken one on every cruise including 2 Epic cruises and never had a problem. That's not saying it will always be this way, but from my experience, I haven't had a problem yet.
timmo44 Posted August 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Sounds like a type of exotic dance? They won't allow that sort of thing... Maybe in Spice H2O late at night?
chengkp75 Posted August 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 28, 2014 As per the title. Thanks. :) Power strips, power boards, whatever you call them, are acceptable on NCL, as long as they are in good condition. You can save yourself some money and possible inconvenience (possible confiscation) by getting one that IS NOT a surge suppressor. This is the main reason these are confiscated. Long explanation, I've posted many times, but surge suppressors are not needed onboard, and cause problems with the ship's electrical system. The type with the on/off switch (which is really a circuit breaker) are preferred. Being from the UK, you will need an adapter since your power strip will most likely have the three large flat pins that are UK standard. The 220v outlets on the ship are the 2 round pin European standard, and the 110v outlets are US 3-prong (two flat pins, and one round).
cruise_family Posted August 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Many thanks for the replies. We always carry them but have not sailed with NCL before, I didn't think there was any point bringing it if it was going to get confiscated. I will be sure to get one with an on/off switch to be on the safe side.
LrgPizza Posted August 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 28, 2014 If it's for charging devices and such that use USB, I'd suggest getting a multi port hub. You can charge several devices using one power outlet, as opposed to having everything plugged into separate power outlets, saving a bunch of space. We use this: $14.99USD at Amazon
garycarla Posted August 28, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 28, 2014 Power strips, extension cords, etc. No problem. I do not remember ever seeing where one was confiscated of any type.

I even went as far as buying the USA 'figure 8' power lead for it so it plugged straight in. Highly recommended.

On our cruise this plugged into one of the 2 outlets, and the other one was open and available for anything else we might need. We didn't have to bring a power strip.
