lovely_serenity Posted December 18, 2014 Author #202 Share Posted December 18, 2014 Margherita Pizza: Blue Cheese & Grape Pizza: Goat Cheese & Sun Dried Tomato Pizza: Okay … LOL We listen and follow him on a 10ish minute long tour of the buffet. Apparently for the hot food, there's no menu and you must order through our server. Also, these "Warm Sticky Buns" were on the pastry table and I hadn’t seen it earlier, perhaps it was opened after I passed by? The dessert table (that I wouldn’t have seen unless this server had pointed it out for us!!): (I know the thing in the middle had pistachio in it)

lovely_serenity Posted December 18, 2014 Author #204 Share Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) And next to the dessert table is the bar. After the tour, he handed us plates and told us to dig in. He also asks us what drink we would like to start out with. He says that I get some sort of fancy sparkling apply juice (because I’m under-aged) and gives my brother and dad the choices of either a Mimosa, or a Prosecco (Sparkling Italian wine). They both opted for the Mimosa. - (each person gets a complimentary drink, those are your choices) (P.S. Correction, our reservation was for 10:00 am, so we would have left the character breakfast at 9:30 am. I just realized we were the first group because it was 10:00 am, not 10:30 am) After being seated, the same server comes over and says, "Hi, my name is Ashlie and I will be your server today! :D" (inside I was like “YESS. We got the young fun guy that jokes around with instead of the awkward dude from earlier!!”) Since we were the first group, he basically spent the entire meal, taking care of only us. It was very nice :) I then left everything at the table and the 3 of us grabbed some plates and started digging in. Once I had filled my plates with all the things I wanted to eat, I returned to my table. When I came back to the table, to my demise, I noticed that Dad had already started eating. D:!!! Me: "Dadd! I didn't get to take a picture yet! :(" Dad: “D: Oops! I actually thought about whether or not I should start eating before you came or not!" Me: "And yet you decided against it? -.-" ":D. I'll let you take a picture of the next one!" Ashlie comes over, " Dad! Picture! :0" Me: "Right?? :0" Dad laughs. Ashlie: "It's okay, I will warn Dad next time and not let him eat until you take the pictures! :D //determined face" Me: “LOL Okay thanks :D”. He actually did LOL. Every time new food was brought to the table, he would be like "Dad! No eating until picture!! :D :D" Anyhow, here was what I ate: (Left to Right – Salmon mousse: 8.7/10, Shrimp Cocktail: 8.9/10, Marinated Scallop: 9.5/10, Cantaloupe with Prosciutto: 8.9, Caviar on bread: 8.8, Alaskan Crab Leg: 9.3, Asparagus with Hollandaise Sauce: 8.9, Cajun Ahi Tuna: 9.2) Edited December 18, 2014 by lovely_serenity
lovely_serenity Posted December 18, 2014 Author #205 Share Posted December 18, 2014 (edited) And a note: THE SCALLOP WAS HUGE, IT WAS THE BIGGEST SCALLOP I HAD EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE. IT REQUIRED A KNIFE TO CUT IT BEFORE EATING IT. IT WAS TOO BIG TO EAT IT ONE BITE! :D IT WAS LIKE 2 INCHES THICK! Here’s what my brother ate: He said something about that piece of purple-ish bread on the left and about how amazingly delicious it was. He also said something about blue coloured cheese being amazing and he purple cheese being gross (on the right). Listen to his opinion, because he is a cheese/bread person. My dad and I are not, but it’s good that Bro can really appreciate those kinds of things they had there that we wouldn’t be able to. Here is my sparkling apple juice with a complicated name: (Which I actually really liked. It tasted very nice!) And here’s Dad/Bro’s Mimosa: This was Dad’s second helping, which Ashlie made sure he didn’t touch before I got my photo LOL: Edited December 18, 2014 by lovely_serenity

lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #209 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Ashlie comes over and asks us if we would like to order anything from the hot food menu. We asked for what he thought was the best on the menu; he says the Chicken Parmesan and Veal. They were indeed superb. I had actually researched online to find out what kinds of hot food was popular in Palo, and the few things I heard many times over were: Chicken Parmesan and the Blue Cheese and Grape Pizza. I managed to convince my dad to order it, and we wound up ordering all 3 of those, plus an Oysters Rockefeller. The first dish to arrive was the Oysters Rockefeller: (If you’re familiar with sushi – it’s like an upscale oyster motoyaki. If you’re not – it’s spinach and oyster in the shell baked with creamy/buttery sauce. 8.9/10) Part way through the meal, Ashlie tells us the there are whales outside our window. He points at this dark blob spouting water. I try to take some pictures but I'm using the wrong lens. I switch to the super zoom lens and wait. While we eat, he tells us that while we enjoy, he will keep watch for whales for us. He actually did! LOL He was so accurate in his predictions too! He was like "Okay, okay right there! There! First you see the body, and then ooo ooo ooo! Tail!! :D" and when he said "Okay no more! Whales will not pop up anymore!" They actually didn't o_o. He says the whales will not appear again so we can enjoy our brunch, he has told them not to come out anymore LOL. After a little while of chatting, he asks "o.o Am I disturbing your meal?" We respond "Absolutely not!" But he disappears anyways o.o. Here are the whale pictures I took through the glass with my zoom lens:
lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #210 Share Posted January 6, 2015 The rest of our hot dishes come out promptly. First is the Chicken Parmesan: (Actually much better than I’d thought it’d be! We typically don’t order stuff like this, but everyone was raving about it so much, it felt like we had to LOL. I can confidently say it’s the best chicken parm I’ve ever had – and I don’t really care for chicken parm in general ^^. 9.1/10) Then was the Veal Saltinbocca: (Yeah, even after taking multiple photos of this dish, it appears my camera had decided to refuse to take a sharp picture of it. Hmph. Anyways, this was very good as well, although not as good as the chicken parm. Bro wound up finishing the majority of it anyways. 8.8/10) Here’s some caviar on a piece of melba toast plus my Disney nails :-D P.S. I highly recommend asking your server for some melted butter for your crab legs, it tastes so much better Dad had another helping from the buffet and wanted me to show you guys his brilliant idea of adding caviar to his little spoon dishes to make it prettier LOL: Last to come out was our Blue Cheese and Grape Pizza: (You know what? It was actually really good! It doesn’t sound like it would work, but surprisingly does! The cheese is like regular warm blue cheese, but the grapes provide little bursts of sweetness that actually improves the taste! I was the only one that wanted it, so my Dad and my brother was asking Ashlie if there was the option of making a half portion because they were full LOL. Ashlie laughed and said they couldn’t do that. He told us that we didn’t need to finish it if we were too full. We actually liked it enough to eat a quarter each! 9.2/10)
lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #211 Share Posted January 6, 2015 By now, we were all getting quite full, so we started on dessert. Since I love desserts, I got to be in charge of picking! I was about to go fill a plate, but they both sat me back down and warned me not to get too many. I quickly agreed and excitedly bolted back up, which resulted in my brother grabbing my shoulder and plopping me back down onto my seat LOL. They both suspiciously stared at me and told to repeat what they had said back to them -3- Hmph. Dad then said that I could only pick 3 desserts. Immediately my face visibly fell. I literally looked like this –> D; LOL. “But whhyy??” I whined. After a little coaxing, I managed to make them let me grab 4 LOL. As I skipped away, my brother called after me and warned me not to pick the “stupid childish desserts” that “I only ate”. >_> I just responded with an evil laugh LOL. I came back with these 4 desserts that I thought looked/sounded the best! The shortest thing on the left is a Chocolate Covered Strawberry with a tuxedo chocolate decoration pattern plus a piece of Palo chocolate stuck to it, the thing in the back is a Tiramisu, the thing on the right is the Champagne Jelly & Berries, and the thing at the bottom is a Pistachio & Fudge Cake. (Look how perfectly coincidentally colour-coordinated they are! :D) (Chocolate Covered Strawberry 8.4/10, Tiramisu 9.3/10 – Bro and Dad really liked this, they liked this the most because they typically like tiramisu and found this to be incredibly well done, Champagne Jelly & Berries 8.0/10 – It was good, but you couldn’t really tell the Champagne jellies had Champagne in them?? They just tasted like regular clear jellies LOL, Pistachio & Fudge Cake 9.1/10 – Dad liked this one a lot, he loves pistachio flavoured things. I found the dark chocolate a little bitter for my taste, however.) As you can probably assume, I felt incredibly successful when they asked me to get seconds of their favourite things :) hehehe… All in all, an excellent meal that exceeded our expectations. It is definitely catered more toward to seafood-lovers like ourselves, so my sister probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much as we did. My dad and brother dubbed it “the best meal they had ever had” and my dad still dreams about it every night LOL. The atmosphere is extremely fancy, although it may have been just me because the other clumps of adults were comfortable in their own little circles. I however, was on my best behaviour! ^^ Bringing out all the table manners! Something else worth mentioning, Ashlie did something that really irritated us. We only realized a while afterwards, but still. After learning some new valuable information that we weren’t aware of prior to this experience, we came to the realization that Ashlie did something that wasn’t very good. Apparently (I don’t know if I’m just slow or what, but this is for those who don’t know just like I didn’t LOL), the $25 surcharge (or however much the surcharge is for your restaurant) covers SOLELY your server’s tip, not the food. That is why you are not supposed to tip them extra, it’s because that IS their tip. Ashlie probably figured we didn’t know that, so he purposely handed us a bill with an empty “tip” slot. That’s why my Dad tipped him (we didn’t know we weren’t supposed to). My Dad actually learned about this whole tip ordeal on their recent Princess cruise to the Caribbean. They ate a meal at the Princess Grill and when he added tip, the server crossed it out and told my Dad that he didn’t need to tip him extra, as the surcharge was 100% tip already. After we were thoroughly stuffed, we made our way out. I took a few more pictures of the place before leaving.
lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #212 Share Posted January 6, 2015 We make our way down to deck 4 And since it’s still a little early to meet the rest of our family for their lunch, we go to the outside deck for some pictures:

lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #214 Share Posted January 6, 2015 (lol I didn’t realize Dad and Bro both ran into my photo) (Side story: My dad got somewhat annoyed with Guest Services briefly because they refused to lend my Dad some pliers in order to tighten one of the bolts of my Grandma’s wheelchair – even though they had one. Apparently it was some sort of liability issue. Like, I get they don’t want to be sued in case the wheelchair breaks and their pliers touched it, but like … not being sued > Grandma falls out of wheelchair ??? Like, I just??? Oh well, whatever.) Anyways, it quickly approached noon and the 3 of us got our party a table (plus a little one) to fit everyone. Once everyone arrived and was seated, my dad gushed to my relatives about his wonderful seafood experience at Palo. While they discussed it, I looked over the meu: They also passed my camera around to see my food pictures ^^. I think I ate a little bit, but not much. This was the most I had run around during a meal all trip (since I was at the little 4 person table and my bro and I weren’t really eating). lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #215 Share Posted January 6, 2015 As usual, my sister and cousin thoroughly enjoyed their bread: Shortly thereafter, the food started to arrive. Here is the Pomegranate-Glazed Chilled Duck Breast: (Very good, although I think I would’ve liked it more if it were warm as opposed to chilled. Still, nice glaze, very tender. 8.8/10) A Selection of Antipasto: (I don’t know if I should be commenting on this, since I don’t really like antipasto? But I’ll just give it a number that my brother would give, 7.7/10) Chilled Strawberry Soup: (All of their chilled fruit soups taste like fruit smoothies! 8.2/10) French Lentil Soup: (Quite a few of my aunts & uncles actually ordered this! See, this is the benefit of travelling with other families. They have different tastes than ours. Typically within my immediate family, we would frequently order similar dishes & repeat dishes, due to the fact that our taste is very similar. Had it been only my family that went, I would literally have no salad, vegetable soup or alternatives to steaks/lobster pictures! – My health-nut 30s cousin kept offering us salad all week, to which we’d politely decline LOL :D Anyways, this soup was basically just your typical vegetable soup. 7.4/10) Buttered Green Asparagus (I like asparagus. I like butter. I liked the sauce. Therefore, I liked this dish :) ^^. 8.4/10)
lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #216 Share Posted January 6, 2015 The drink my brother created on this very ship years ago: half orange juice + half Sprite. I now order that on every cruise ship I sail. <3 My brother’s only food: Strawberry Ice Cream. (It’s so ironic how the dining room is always limited to the 3 basic flavours of ice cream – sometimes 2, yet the pool deck always have some sort of interesting flavour that rotates at the soft serve machine.) Classic Reuben Sandwich: (Nicely crispy with melted cheese. 8.2/10) Salad Niçoise: (I don’t know, not my cup of tea but probably someone else’s? 7.2/10) Poached Salmon: (Good, but seemed somewhat lacking? It seems they missed one of the words in their description and opted for “lemon” instead of “lemon hollandaise” LOL. 8.0/10) The Chuck Burger: (My uncle seemed to enjoy quite a bit! He also gave me a fry before I left! :) 8.3/10)
lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #217 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Fettuccine Pasta: (I liked that they had large shreds of cheese sprinkled on top! Overall, not a bad dish. 8.2/10) As everyone ate their meals, I noticed an incredibly lovely scenery pass by the window. I kind of made this face again –> D:! and remarked that I wish I could take a picture of it, but dessert was coming. My relatives then all told me to quickly go upstairs to take them, and that they would wait for me to come back before eating. They also told me to HURRY!! (lol). I nodded, said thanks and bolted it up to deck 4 via the large stairs connected to Triton’s main entrance. Here were the photos I took up there: After I finished, I booked it back downstairs, slipping under the velvet rope that had just appeared at the top of the staircase. As soon as I arrived, so did half of dessert. Some desserts were already served, so my arrival was immediately followed by a “FINALLY SHE’S BACK TAKE THE PICTUREEE” :P. lovely_serenity Posted January 6, 2015 Author #218 Share Posted January 6, 2015 Here was the Pistachio Bavarious: (It was somewhat ice cream-y and a bit cake-y, but very delicious-y(?) ^^~ 8.8/10) Tiramisu: (Not as many layers and swirls as the Palo one, but still delicious and somewhat similar in taste. 8.9/10) Soaked Rum Cake: (Not bad, sponge cake with a bit of rum. 8.0/10) Apple Crumble: (with chocolate instead of vanilla ice cream) (Apple crumbles are always good (: 8.7/10) My uncle’s vanilla ice cream that he took the time to give chocolate sprinkle eyes LOL: After lunch, I went back upstairs (this time with my brother as well) to take some more scenery pictures:
