Connie Questions

DH and I last sailed on the Constellation in 2009, and since then have only sailed on S Class ships in AQ. We are back on The Connie next July and have a few questions;-

Are the AQ cabins as nice as the S Class ones?

Is there an Ice Bar and where is it?

Is Ocean Liners Restaurant still there, or has it adopted a Murano's menu?

Are there any other changes since 2009?

Thanks.

I have sailed on both the M & S Class ships... Solstice in 2012 and the Summit in 2013 (after Solstization)... I also have an upcoming cruise on the Constellation in December.

So let's see if I can't get you started.

1- Aqua Class Cabins - We are booked into an A1 for our cruise on the Constellation. The A1s on Deck 11 are all new... And came in as modules which make them "somewhat" like the ones on the S-Class Ships... But not the same. Their layout (rectangle vs indented shape) and furnishings see them more like all the other cabins on Constellation. The A2s on Deck 9 were converted over from Concierge Cabins. So they only got a minor facelift such as the installation of the Hansgrohe Shower, addition of luxury bedding, etc

If you do a search here on CC or a GOOGLE search you can find photos of the Connie's Aqua Cabins.

2- Ice Bars - Indeed Solstization saw the addition of the Ice Topped Martini Bar & the satellite bar Crush on all the M-Class Ships. They are found Midship near the Grand Foyer on the Promenade Deck (Deck 4)... So very convenient to the MDR. And therefore very popular both before & after dinner.

3- Oceanliners is still on the Constellation... And like the other so named Specialty Restaurants in the M-Class Ships (The Normandie - The Olympic - SS United States) they have maintained their charming decor of the great Oceanliners, but indeed their menu now is the same one that is featured by Murano's on the S-Class Ships.

For more info see the Celebrity Website = http://www.celebritycruises.com/onboard-celebrity/cruise-restaurants

4- Other changes. There were many made with Solsticization which for the Constellation was done in two parts one in 2010 and another in 2013. The majority of hardcore changes came to Deck 11... Most notably with the addition of the Aqua Class Cabins (over the Oceanview Buffet area), Tuscan Grille the Specialty Restaurant midship, and the Revelations Lounge being reduced in size to make room for the relocated Kd's Fun Factory.

The ice Bars were added as well as Cellarmasters Wine Bar, and Bistro on 5 (the latter both on Deck 5).

Beyond that the soft furnishings on the ship got a facelift... curtains, bedding, etc

There are certainly many topics on Solstization here on CC and elsewhere on the Internet... Many that document the process with before & after pics. So you might want to do a Search for them

Also, hOpefully someone else who has sailed before & after on the Connie will also give you their impressions.

Cheers!

Thanks for that. Has covered everything! A slight shame about Ocean Liners now really being Muranos. We loved Ocean Liners, but I am sure we will have a wonderful time. We are in an A1 and have been informed that it is one of the "new" cabins.

A1's are on the top deck and are indeed new staterooms. They are very private, very quiet and we loved the open balcony with very little overhang.

Ocean Liners and all the "M" class specialty restaurants came along WELL before any Murano's and indeed the menu Murano's has is originally from the "M" class...just to set that straight.

We were on Connie in April 2013 before Solstization and in December 2013, after it and loved it. It's the only "M" class that has Tuscan Grill rather the Qsine, we really like Tuscan Grill, whereas Qsine is more of a novelty restaurant.

They also resurfaced the T Pool, which really needed it and it's wonderful and so much nicer than the "S" class Aqua pool.

Am sure you will love Connie!!
