AmberTeka Posted September 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) The reviews are not good. We have a casino offer with a really good rate on the Sunshine this fall. I have sailed over a hundred days on Carnival, and never felt that I did not get my money's worth and more..........but the reviews on the Sunshine..inside cabins....are not good. . Almost all bad. anyone have first hand knowledge? Thank you for the information. Edited September 19, 2014 by AmberTeka
TPFKAH Posted September 19, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Sorry, no first hand, as we only had a balcony on the Destiny, but we were in an inside room on a ship only once. It was awful. The size was the same as an outside, but we felt like we were in a closet anyway. And I never knew dark was so dark.

It was awful. The size was the same as an outside, but we felt like we were in a closet anyway. And I never knew dark was so dark. We have been in an inside twice on the Dream. Both times we were on an Upper Deck ( pack and go cruises) and the Inside did not bother me. It did my husband. We had to have a wake up call, because we could not wake up.As I am not a good sleeper, I liked it. As he has a touch of claustrophobia....he did not. ONCE we were on the Upper Deck, close to that deck that overlooks the Bow. That cabin was fine, because it was just steps to that deck. He enjoyed going out there. Do you know what that deck is called on the Sunshine? Thanks for the information.
TPFKAH Posted September 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 19, 2014 The lowest one is deck 6, but deck 7 has that area as well.

PortSideCruzan Posted September 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Hi AmberTeka :) I do not have 1st hand knowledge in regard to interior cabins aboard the Sunshine, however I did locate two interior cabin video tours via YouTube that will give you a good visual. I'll drop them below. JustJess85 Posted September 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) I cruised on the Sunshine in January 2014 and stayed in an inside cabin (7129). We had the king size bed set up. The cabin itself was very nice, it was a good size and we did not feel closed in, but the location was horrible. We heard the music and felt the bass from the nightclub all hours of the night. It wasn't enough to ruin our cruise, but we would not stay in that room again. We also could not get the room cool enough for our taste. We called and maintenance looked at it but all we got was the note saying it was up to Carnival standards. I also cruised on the Elation twice with an inside cabin both times (same one). It was a smaller room (upper/lower beds) but it was so quiet. I cruise again in January 2015 on the Dream in a spa balcony so I'm super excited and looking forward to that experience! I would not hesitate to book an inside again on Sunshine.
NCTribeFan Posted September 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Other than some 1A cabins, I've found all inside cabins on all ships to be the same. They're just prefab boxes. Yes, the location makes a difference, but to conclude that the inside cabins on a particular ship are somehow "not good" or worse than the others seems a bit of a stretch. If you've been in an inside on one ship, chances are an inside on Sunshine will be just like it. I booked a Premier casino on Freedom and am going solo. The only thing I did was check the deck plans to be sure I was between passenger decks and not under a club or the galley.
hlb76 Posted September 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Jan 2014 We had a inside. I think we where aft deck 7. I liked the location very much. Just up a couple of floors to the lido. Down a couple to the promenade. We normally always book insides and I felt this room was on par with all others. We always try to book between passenger cabins and not over under something that could disturb us like a disco.

They have lounge chairs out there. I was impressed. Thank You. And the inside cabin. Goodness that bed looked tightly packed into that room. The RR looked like it is the larger model. Again..Thank you.
AmberTeka Posted September 19, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted September 19, 2014 Thank you all. When I started this thread, I knew nothing about cabins on the Sunshine. Now I have seen a video of an inside ( and the narrator did question if the cabin was 185 ft, when comparing it to a 160 Sq. ft cabin they had just been in on the NCL Jewell) That deck..........looked very close, very nice, and very empty. I wish all of you Happy Sails!

We did an Inside Guarantee on the Destiny (Sunshine before refurbishment) and they gave us a room on Deck 8; this was in Feb. 2012. In Dec. 2013 we booked an inside on the Valor. No difference in the room size except that the bathroom on the Destiny was bigger. It extended all the way to the wall, basically it was the width of the room minus the width of the doorway. Not so on the Valor. I don't know if our room was different than others or standard size on the Destiny.
Rare deladane Posted September 19, 2014 #14 Share Posted September 19, 2014 I was in an inside cabin on deck 7 on the Sunshine this week last year on my Mediterranean cruise. It was set up as 2 twin beds because I was sailing with my mom, and we had plenty of floor space. Not sure if you need the king bed or 2 twins, but here are some pictures of our room: The renovations were really nice inside the cabin with new carpets and linens and cabinets, and we found that there was enough space to walk around the cabin (although it did get a little tricky if we both needed to use the closets/drawers at the same time, but that's probably true with balcony cabins too!) Hope that helps and have a great cruise!
uffdafla Posted September 19, 2014 #15 Share Posted September 19, 2014 We sailed over Labor Day weekend with friends, all inside cabins. Our was an original Destiny cabin, aft 7th deck. Our friends had a newly added edition, aft 5th, a new build. While we didn't have a fridge or end tables, they did. The location was great for sound barriers and proximdity to the action. Best thing was closest to the Ocean Plaza, and surrounding venues.
sailingwithfriends Posted September 19, 2014 #16 Share Posted September 19, 2014 My parents were on deck 6 in the aft sections in May. They said the cabin was smaller than the inside cabin on the Dream. However, they loved the shower. It was much larger than any shower they have had in the past. (They normally sail on RCCL) There is a lot of storage in the cabin. Beds were comfortable. My mom wished there was a full length mirror. There cabin did not have a sofa. It did have a chair and a stool at the vanity. They obviously thought the cabin was okay, because they have booked the same room in November. We had an inside on the Sunshine last December the last one Port side deck 6 did hear a little bit of the Bass from the band in the Ocean Plaza. Other than that it was the same as in inside on any other Carnival ship. We're looking at the Sunshine for December again this year and plan on moving up to deck 7 same location. Hoping that moving up 1 deck with help with the little noise we did hear.
dolittle Posted September 19, 2014 #18 Share Posted September 19, 2014 We had a inside on the Sunshine in Europe (12 days)in Oct of last year , after reading all this drama on this site we were more than a little curious to see what all the fuss was about. Guess what the inside was a little bit smaller than a standard Carnival inside and the bathroom was about the same (big) This ship is smaller than most but it will not effect you if you understand this before you go .The pool is smaller than almost any other modern ship(if this matters to you ) and the large showroom is also small by the standards of most modern ships(if that matters to you). The thing is there is also many new good things about this ship, the new sell-up spots are cheap and very good ,the buffet is also well done with new and good options the deli.is very good with some great options. If you go with an open mind there are many good things to enjoy about this ship.
