First before starting I want to say that this website ROCKS! I have learned so much in the past couple days and have gotten so many tips! I cant wait for our cruise- Sensation Aug 27th! OV room- E deck! :D 11 more Days!!!! :)

We are new to cruising and my mom who is going hasnt been on a real Vacation in like 20 yrss-- seriously. So she is needing to be put on ***** about now cuz she is worried about everything and driving me NUTZ!

1) Are there ATM machines on the ship? Or is it better to get Travelers Checks?

2) There are 5 of us going out of New Orleans...... What would be the CHEAPEST way getting to and from the airport? (nothing like paying $100 just to get to and from the ship--brother  )

3) Our flight gets in to New Orleans at 10:30ish am. We were hoping to go someplace close to the ship to eat lunch. Would there be lockers available to put our luggage in so we can leave and go eat after being dropped off? OR-- I we check on to the ship that early will they have lunch available?

4) My husband keeps chanting there is nothing for him to do on the ship-- he is not into lectures or cards, anyone know what he would be able to do?

Once you get to the ship, you can just check in your luggage. THey probably won't be boarding until almost 1pm...But the cruise terminal is within walking distance of the Riverwalk Mall, and just a little further past that is the French Quarter...

You can tell your husband, that he has been watching too many old movies on cruises..Very seldom do they have lectures, and card games are usually played amoung friends..

There is music up by the pool, with waiters to take your drink orders, casino while the ship is at sea, spa treatments (yes guys are allowed). If he is so inclined, he can work out in the gym (its small but functional). Bring a good book or two, and just relax and feel the ocean breeze and listen to the music..

You are going to be sooo addicted!!! I sailed on the Conquest out of New Orleans in June but drove from Texas so I can't tell you about transfers from the airport. Check out the New Orleans board and there should be some info there for you. As far lunch, depending on what time you get to the pier, you could be on the ship as early as 12:00 and they do serve lunch on the Lido deck. There is a buffet and the grills and pizza are usually open. You might as well take advantage of that!! As far as your husband goes, mine thought the same thing (3 cruises ago :) ) Now he is the one wanting to know when the next one is. There will be lot's of things to do or he can choose to do nothing. That's the beauty of cruising!! You will have a blast! I am also sailing on the Sensation in March for Spring Break with my mom, dad, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc and they have never cruised! I am looking forward to them experiencing it for the first time! Oh yeah, the ATM's run out of cash fast so you might want to bring traver's checks with you or if you have an American Express card the purser's desk will cash checks for you.

Thanks guys!!! I think I am going to make a point of then going right to the ship after arriving in New Orleans. They call it a 5 day cruise but it leaves a 4pm and then Arrives at 8am --- thats really not 5 DAYS! So we planned on an early arrive in NO and getting used to the ship and finding stuff! ;)

And, seeing lunch is going to be served AND its paid for (call me CHEAP) then we are there and safe from getting lost or what ever. Plus with the cost of transporation to and from airport-- not paying $80 for lunch in NO would be nice! ;) ;)

Actually, if you were to be the first to get on the ship (say 12:00 noon) and the last to leave (say 10:30am) it would be about 1 1/2 hours short of the 5 days. However, if your the last to board the ship 3:59pm and the first to leave 8:00, you then get beat out of a several hours. There is approximately a 1 1/2 to 2 hour period where no passengers are on the ship (and the crew is running their butts off getting everything ready for the new "herd"). :D

Cindy, if your planes lands in N.O. at 10:30ish, it will probably be 11:30 by the time you claim your luggage and get to the pier. After you stand in a few lines, you'll be on the ship in plenty of time for lunch. The Lido Deck buffet will be out, plus burgers, hot dogs, etc. And yes, the pizzeria and ice cream/yogurt machines will all be ready for you!:)

I'm sorry I can't help with the best way to get to and from airport. If you go to the N.O. port-of-call board, you'll find more answers. I'm from N.O., but I don't use cabs.

Hope y'all have a SENSATIONAL cruise!
